i remember the first time i watched this episode the mateo/marvin thing went over my head and i didn’t realize it and then rewatching the earthquake episodes it clicked for me and i was like ooohhh and it made me love this crossover even more.

lol i love that you clocked them having eddie round the corner at the exact moment buck is assumed to be queer…again.
i kinda think it’s a mix of both original intent and fanservice. like some of it is definitely just for us but if you rewatch the first half of season 2 there’s so many moments, like maddie’s “does this boy crush on eddie mean that you’re finally ready to move on from abby” line from episode 2x04. that one is way too soon to be based on audience feedback so it feels like parts of it have always been intentional. 2x04 as a whole is interesting when you rewatch it.
i really enjoyed the pairings in this episode, i think they made sense and were handled really well. i would have loved more crossovers and seeing different dynamics explored but sadly this is the only real one.

We have met Matteo´s cousin. The joke is that Matteo´s actor was in 911 before Lonestar happened. He was in season 2, the kid with dyed hair that Athena arrested, who helped when the earthquake hit. That´s why he says "people say we look alike"
And this is the only crossover episode. There is one other instance, Athena shows up for a moment in one episode but it´s not as extensive as this whole episode focusing on the teams working together.
The team ups worked really well. Personally I´m not a big fan of Owen, but his interactions with Hen were great.
Marjan and Eddie had really good chemistry, they played really well off each other. And all the references they in particular had were really fun.
TK and Buck was great, and I love Buck comparing Bobby to a father for him. The show started referencing his actual parents and implied that they aren´t great and it´s just so sweet that he sees Bobby like that.
They are so playing with us and Buck and Eddie. Like it would be one thing if TK mistakenly assumes Buck was flirting, that itself would be a very interesting writing choice, but Eddie immediately entering the scene while TK is leaving? Deliberate choices. Also cute how flustered Buck was, like... sir, why are you getting so nervous about this?
