I don´t think I´ve seen a single person not get emotional by Unsaid Emily, it´s such a good song! Also, maybe a plothole, maybe just a detail. We established the boys can be heard without Julie, just not seen. So Luke´s parents possibly heard him sing as they read the letter. I guess they could justify it to themselves as imagining his voice. Oh almost forgot, if you rewatch the hotdog scene both in the pilot and in this episode, you can actually see a missing person poster of Luke right behind Luke, so his parents kept looking for him after he ran away from home. So, Julie´s mom. It´s never explicitly explained but you can put things together. She was the waitress in the first episode. The guys gave her their CD and a shirt, which Julie later finds. Also she wore the same leather vest that Julie picked out for their Finally Free performance.
