Episode 131 is obviously an incredible moment. Adult Gon is one of the most memorable scenes in the entire series, and the animation, the atmosphere, and the emotion all hit hard. But when you really think about it, it is not something to cheer for. Gon gives up everything he has, everything he could become, just to defeat a single subordinate. It shows how completely consumed he was by grief and anger. The moment is iconic, but it is also one of the most heartbreaking points in the story.

I love how the two biggest fights of the arc ended in a big boom, like with Netero. An explosion was really the only way to let go of all that build up!! And Gon's last glance was heartbreaking. Beautiful analysis at the end, it made me love this classic even more. Now go watch episode 1 tell me if it's the same anime 😂
