Netero being drawn like a demon wasn’t random. He spent his life teaching martial arts based on honor and respect, but in the end, he went against everything he believed in. Using the bomb meant accepting humanity’s darker side and becoming the very thing he despised to stop the King. This makes even more sense as the story unfolds. That final line can be read two ways in Japanese: “humanity’s potential for evolution” or “humanity’s potential for malice.” It captures the arc perfectly. The Ants hadn’t been alive for long, yet they were already capable of terrifying cruelty, but they had no idea that humanity had centuries of experience in it. The bomb is proof of that. Meruem represents nature’s ultimate creation, while Netero represents humanity’s. Their fight shows both the beauty and the horror of what we are capable of.
