Queer As Folk Season 5 Episode 13 We Will Survive!

The ending scene with Babylon reopening can either be depicted as an illusion, a dream, a figment of Brian and Michael's imagination or they could've actually reopened Babylon.. it's up to the audience to decide. Same with Brian and Justin not getting married. Will they reunite and finally tie the knot or never see each other again. Deep down, I know that they'll find each other again. They both love each other so much and have such a significant impact with one another that it's become hard to forget the memories they shared together. This episode truly breaks my heart, you can see in their eyes how much leaving each other hurts.. it's so painful. Thank you for reacting to this series, it's not given the love and attention it deserves. And thank you to Ophelia! ❤️ Would you consider reacting to the bloopers for each season? How much would that cost to recommend? 😊 You'd definitely love seeing the lighthearted atmosphere with the cast.

Thank you Ophelia! This was the first time I found a reactor for this series and I'm so glad you appreciated it as much as we all do. Such a fantastic and underrated show. It had been a couple of years since I completely rewatched it and everytime i’m delighted by how much I love these characters and the writing on this show. One of the best ensembles of my lifetime. Ugh much love. My headcanon is def that Brian and Justin are endgame eventually and one of those couples that is always together even when they're not. I would kill for them to do a reunion season or a movie haha

ahhh it’s finally over! it’s such a bittersweet ending in some ways but i love this show so much. it’s easily a top 5 show for me too. thank you ophelia for sponsoring the entire series. i love that ted’s ending was your unexpected favorite. i love that he finally learned to accept himself fully. him finally realizing he doesn’t need someone to complete him and then blake showing up right when he has that realization was perfect. even though we really don’t have too much of them throughout the series, they are surprisingly one of my favorite ships on the show. they have such a pull on me and i always get so emotional over them. i know it’s controversial but i’ve always loved brian and justin’s ending. justin is still only 22/23, he’s so young, i didn’t want him settled down into married life yet. brian’s business is a success and you just know justin will end up being some hot shot artist and they’ll have enough money to travel the world and explore new places together. brian has always wanted to get out of pittsburgh, there’s no reason to think he’ll stay there indefinitely. this isn’t the end for them. even still, that “whether we see each other next week, next month, never again, it doesn't matter…it’s only time” makes me cry every time. it’s so true, their love spans time, they will always be with each other even if they aren’t physically. i also love that brian didn’t return the rings because he does still want that someday. it’s just not the right time now.

Quick thing about each of the main characters: Brian: He will always be one of my favorite tv characters. He’s complex, frustrating, I hate a lot of his decisions, but somehow steals your heart, exactly how he does for all his friends, lol. I could go on and on about Brian, lol, wayyy too long for my already long post. Justin: Seeing him go from a kid to an adult is one of my favorite elements of the show. He is so strong and to see the things he goes through and how they affected him always makes me tear up. I absolutely love that the show never forgets what happened to him. Up until this last episode, he see him stretching his hand as he takes a break from drawing. So many shows forget traumatic events that happen to characters and move on, but they never did with Justin. They showed that those were the moments that made Justin Justin. Horrible things happened to him, things he’ll never forget, but they never broke him. Michael: He is a character that I will just be so frustrated with through an episode, but realize how much I love every time I think back to the series. I absolutely love the family he created, and even though Michael has never been my favorite character, his family as a whole always steals my heart. Emmett: I just love Emmett. And I love how he has so many ups and downs and how the ending shows that he will continue to. Because that’s Emmett, he loves and lives in the moment. His story with George always comes back to me and to see them give him a love-of-a-lifetime and lose him but still live on I think is a great message. Ted: Like you said about Ted’s ending being your favorite… somehow Ted really steals the spotlight so much throughout the show. He’s portrayed as someone kinda boring, not a dramatic backstory, not the most physically attractive (he still is though!), something a bit annoying, lol. But when I think back to some of the most powerful moments of the show, it’s been Ted. Somehow (and props to Scott Lowell, the actor, I love him!) the most ‘basic’ character, who probably isn’t really many people’s favorite, has probably some of the best overall story, relationships, and development in the show. Melanie and Lindsay: I have such an up and down relationship with them both. I love and hate both at different points throughout the series. I have always loved how they found their way back to each other and their family though. The scene after the bombing with them is one of my favorites. I could write all day about all of these characters and all the other characters, but I’ll stop! Haha. Thank you again for watching this! I’ve loved it!

Thank you so much for reacting to this show! I have absolutely loved rewatching it with you and this show means so much to me! I love to hear how this has become one of your favorite shows. It will always hold such a special place in my heart and I’m so happy to hear the same from you! The Michael intro! I loved how Michael’s voiceovers weren’t an every episode thing, but more of a ‘season beginning’, ‘season finale’, or ‘special episode’ kinda occurrence. It makes it more powerful! Then having Michael give the speech, it made so much sense since he has kinda been a ‘narrator’ of the story. On that note, I’ve always loved how Michael is kinda the unofficial center character. Like Brian could definitely take the ‘main character’ title Michael kinda comes in second with Justin, especially in the first couple seasons. But all the characters are kinda the main character. But the fact that Michael is kinda the one who introduces the world to us and we see so much of Brian and everyone else through his eyes. It’s cool to have a ‘center character’ who isn’t the #1 main character of the show. Ted and Emmett’s friendship will always be one of my favorite parts of the show. I tolerated them as a couple (it wasn’t bad, but definitely not my favorite as a whole or for either of them), but seeing the ups and downs of their relationship throughout the years was amazing. The fact they went through so much and came back just as strong as they started, I feel like every few people could do that. Brian and Gus!! It’s from last episode but when Justin told Brian that he wasn’t like his dad and he loves his son, I almost cry every time. Brian didn’t want to be a parent, partly because he didn’t think he could be a good one. Just like how he’s commitment issues stemmed from his father being unfaithful. Seeing him trying with Gus at the end means so much! I’ve loved the small exploration of Debbie and Hunter’s relationship in the past few episodes. Hunter has been her grandson from the moment he stepped into Michael and Ben’s lives and I love that Debbie truly does love and care for him as one. I just love Hunter, and the scene where Ben and Michael asked to adopt him… I just love them! Ted and Blake!!! I love them soooo much! “Jessie let it go,” same girl, I have the same feelings about Blake, haha. I just can’t forget him!! Something I also love about Ted and Blake ending up together is that they did exactly what Ted wished for. The show started with both of them being a mess and not at all ready for a serious commitment, because they were both struggling so much. They separated (with some meet-ups every once in a while, lol) and became their whole person, and then found each other again. They aren’t two halves, like they were in the beginning, they are two whole people coming together. I’ve really loved the theme of the more ‘white-picked fence’ lives vs ‘wild’(?) lives that this season was really based around. Michael and Brian were really the two opposite sides, both believing that one was ‘morally’ better than the other. Michael because they were ‘too old’ for Brian’s lifestyle and Brian because Michael was ‘imitating heterosexuals’. I loved how Michael’s speech was used as a way to show how they finally came to the conclusion that both can be good, true, and can coexist together. And that both types of people within the community are worth fighting for! Now on to Brian and Justin… I’ll always have mixed thoughts about the ending. I think, over the years, I have come to understand it better and come to peace with it, haha. How Brian just hugs him at the end always makes me tear up. I absolutely love your idea of future Brian and Justin. I think every QaF fan has that picture in their mind to help cope with this ending, haha. The showrunners have said that they never intended people to think they officially broke up. They called off the engagement and are going to be away from each other, but still together and visiting and planning for a future one day together. And hearing them say that enough times has made me feel better about the ending, haha! Also thank god you posted Only Friends as I finished this, cause I need some messy drama to stop my crying!
