2023-10-20 13:58:48 +0000 UTCThey kinda explained the disadvantage of the devil fruits in this episode. The anime goes into a bit more detail. But essentially it´s just that you can´t swim anymore and sea water strips you of all of your strength. That´s why Luffy couldn´t punch himself out of the water tank. That also confirms that Shanks didn´t eat a fruit, or he wouldn´t have had the strength to pull Luffy out of the water. Don´t worry about his abilities though, that won´t be explained for a while. They made Buggy quite a bit darker here, but I really like it. He didn´t feel quite as threatening in the anime, I think. A nice little detail of this adaptation is that the title cards are all themed after different characters. The first episode was Luffy and this one was styled after Buggy. I really like how they made the snail phones look, they look kinda creepy, but very accurate to the source material.
