2023-08-02 02:29:14 +0000 UTCIn the flashback Jer said he took a date to Homecoming, which is pretty normal to do, and even when he says it he says it a bit awkwardly as if he wasn't comfortable doig it. I don't think I ever rememeber him saying he was dating anyone, so while I do feel that Conrad heard what he wanted to hear and said what he did based off of just wanting Belly and him to work out so bad, I also feel like he def emblished what he said to make it sound convincing which means it was partly a lie.

2023-07-31 10:28:06 +0000 UTCI think Jer knew Belly may have always had a thing for Conrad, but I don't think Jer ever saw it coming from Conrad at all, so once it all started to happened it was shocking because he didn't know if it was real or not. Now looking back on everyhting he says he can undeniably see it, buit at the time he was oblivious to it whether that was him just not wanting to see it or not actually seeing it. I tend to put a little more blame on Conrad only because everything with Jer acting irrational happened in the summer where everyone was just doing their own thing, but everything with Conrad acting irrational happened while Susannah was getting sicker by the minute and I can't possibly understand how his focus was like 99% on getting together with Belly while his family was falling apart. BUT at the same time I guess that is the answer, he wanted to deflect. I also feel like a lo9t of people are projecting book Jer on show Jer and they seem to be very different. Int he flashback JEr said he took a date to Homecoming, I don't think I ever rememeber him syaing he was goig on tons of dates. However, people said in the book he says that. So while I do feel that Conrad heard what he wanted to hear and said what he did based off of just wanting Belly and him to work out so bad, I also feel like he def emblished what he said to make it sound convincing which means it was partly a lie.

2023-07-31 10:23:18 +0000 UTCTotally agree and wonder about the boy's privilege and attitude if they weren't grieving but on the note of Conrad and school. Brown is a big deal and very expensive but regarding what Conrad said in ep 2, I think it's meant to be like if Conrad is saying fuck school, the situation must be dire cause he would never do that type of thing. Cause Jere said back at Brown that Conrad had never missed class before, not even while Susannah was sick. On the American school system side, it's a little lower stakes if Conrad fails one class cause it doesn't mean he gets kicked out. He's taking four classes a semester and you pay per semester, not per class, so he wouldn't get refunded regardless of his grade. He'll just need to make up the class next year. Belly and Jere are being a little dramatic about it. It'll cause problems next year when he doesn't have the required biology credit to get into an advanced class but it's not like Conrad is dropping out of school and throwing away his education. He seems to be a top student based on his roommate stealing notes from him all semester. Depending on the school policies, the professor might even allow Conrad to take the final late if Conrad explained the situation. It's not as big an issue as they're making it seem which makes me think like I said before that it's done to show how dire the situation is.

2023-07-29 09:17:16 +0000 UTCI agree about Belly. Her chasing Jere this episode really irritated me. Jeremiah isn't annoying me as much this season..... Mainly because he's not doing stupid shit like trying to sabotage them. But I'm still having trouble getting remotely excited about their relationship. He's so damn earnest and their scenes that jelly shippers love just come off so so cheesy and earnest and over the top for me.

2023-07-28 22:46:15 +0000 UTCI think Conrad was oblivious to the depth of Jeremiahs feelings up until Thanksgiving. As much as Conrad hides his true feelings behind the aloof, moody persona, Jeremiah hides his true feelings behind the carefree, non plusses persona. Conrad thinks Jeremiah is just chilling and having fun. Jeremiah thinks Conrad is just being an a-hole. Both are hurting. Both are (let's be honest) spoiled rich boys who seem completely oblivious to their privilege. I can excuse it while they're grieving but I do wonder whether they'd actually be more mindful of Julia's situation if they weren't grieving. I mean Conrads "fuck school, school doesn't matter" back in episode 2. I mean I'm Australian so I don't know a lot about US colleges but based on what teen soaps have taught me, isn't Brown like really fucking expensive? And if he's got finals coming up then he's obviously too far in for any kind of refund if he doesn't finish. .... Then Jeremiah when he and Belly first went to visit Julie and basically saying she should just gift the house to them. π I mean I know he's grieving but come on, who expects someone to just hand over a multi million dollar property. And neither of them seem to have a single clue about how much a house like that would cost to maintain, especially if Julia's living on the opposite side of the country. The pool alone is probably tens of thousands a year to keep it in order.

2023-07-28 22:39:47 +0000 UTCI don't think Conrad lied. It was the October flashback where he told her Jere was homecoming king and dating, so just after the flashback conversation of just Jere and Conrad talking at the table. Whilst he didn't lie, he just relayed the words and his (incorrect) interpretation which ignored all the non verbal communication Jere was giving.

2023-07-28 22:21:41 +0000 UTCI don't think it's a matter of Jere not knowing there were feelings between Belly and Conrad. He factually, objectively knew based on his own words and actions. He sabotaged their kiss in ep 4. When he confessed in ep 5 he said he was waiting for it to not be Conrad for Belly. When Belly tells him she kissed Conrad, Jere sarcastically congratulates her that it finally happened and she got what she always wanted. He knew but I think he was in denial about how strong the connection was. He wanted it to be something he could overpower with his own feelings. I think Conrad kind of did a similar thing. Conrad didn't understand the scope of Jere's feelings because he didn't want to. He wanted permission and he didn't want to feel bad for wanting Belly. It's a shitty brother move and I think the worst thing he's done so far. The stuff with Belly being toxic or making him out to be an asshole I don't agree with but discarding Jere's feelings is simply selfish and inconsiderate. I try not to hold it against him too much because I think Jere also has a tendency to think the worst of Conrad and then act out against him (it's how we got into this whole triangle in the first place). I feel like a hypocrite if I condemn one of them for selfishly putting their feelings first cause they both do it. Conrad has had blinders on the whole time though as far as Jere's side of things and while I think that wasn't intentional at first, it definitely was a choice he made later. He had like tunnel vision on Belly. After Thanksgiving, I kind of blame Belly too. She saw that Jere was upset and decided to keep dating Conrad. She didn't change anything or talk to Jere. Conrad dressed up the facts in rose-colored glasses (factually Jere did get prom king and he was going on dates and he gave his permission but that wasn't the "truth" of the matter and Conrad damn well knew it) but when she got proof that Jere wasn't okay, she chose to ignore it. Then there's the truth or dare bullshit. Belly, what are you doing? It's one thing to be feeling a vibe. It's another to be trying to turn it into something right in front of your ex-boyfriend/his brother. Like Belly did you really want to kiss Jere in front of Conrad? Seriously? I love Belly but she's impulsively selfish and we've been seeing that since last season. As the situation gets messier though the more damage she does. Just leave Jere alone. Especially since she's not even over Conrad. Jere's not my favorite character (for reasons unrelated to Belly) but let the boy find someone who loves him without caveat. He is never going to be the first choice for you Belly, so let him find someone he is the first choice for. I'm getting vibes between Cam and Skye and honestly, I am so here for it. I don't know how much longer Cam will be in the episodes though. He doesn't really have a reason to be there anymore.
