2023-07-24 05:15:26 +0000 UTCI started watching this because my friend in Mexico recommended it, and she'd be keen to point out it's not a Spanish show (like for example Elite) - it's a Mexican one ;) Great reaction! I also love Paulina, and this show's craziness in general, haha

2023-07-22 22:53:32 +0000 UTCThis is so interesting, thank you for sharing! I've watched a lot of Spanish shows and despite speaking very little Spanish myself, I could tell that Paulina talks differently. Thank you for explaining it in detail.

2023-07-22 22:10:23 +0000 UTCHooray, glad to see you officially decided to react to this! There ARE a lot of characters, but it seems like you did a pretty good job of sorting out who most of them are even with taking notes at the same time as you were reading subtitles. I haven't watched your reaction to the second episode yet, but the one thing I might clarify even though you've probably figured it out by the second episode is that Bruno is Paulina's son (so Virginia and Ernesto's grandson) - Paulina has been raising him as a single mother around the rest of the family. Speaking of Paulina, she's definitely my favorite! It's probably hard to tell if you don't speak Spanish, but she's definitely more of a "character" among the show because of how she talks. Despite being very intelligent she puts on what's called a "fresa" accent more associated with ditzy upper class people (a somewhat similar example that comes to mind is the Paris Hilton voice) and as a separate matter talks in a slow, drawn-out way. So her delivery of "I forgot to cancel the mariachi" is especially iconic in Spanish with the dragging way she says it despite the frantic situation. As a final piece of trivia, Virginia's actress was an especially famous name in many Mexican soap operas in her younger days, so the fact that she agreed to do a more satirical one like this was a neat piece of casting. I'm looking forward to continuing to see the reactions as they come!
