That last look on the Reverend's face was happiness for Brian. You would notice him glancing upwards for a moment and then smile as he watches Brian and Justin. He probably thinks that, although Brian's mother condemn him to hell, God sent Brian a smiling angel who loves him and cares for him.

2023-06-06 16:19:07 +0000 UTCthis is an underrated fav of mine! i love any episode we get more depth for brian and his backstory so basically any family stuff. his mother finding out about him being gay the way she did was 😬 and brian’s reaction to her was pretty sad. he looked like a small child fidgeting against the doorframe the way he was. of course she’s convinced he’s going to hell. i’m not a religious person either but i’ll never understand how you can think that way about someone you claim to love. i’m glad he decided not to out the minister because that would be wrong and unfair considering he himself doesn’t preach what his mother believes. what’s sad is that brian does it so she doesn’t lose that lifeline because he does care and knowing the truth would ruin him in her eyes. it sucks though that the guy has to hide who he is for her and everyone else. i wish there was a way he could get through to joan but honestly i just don’t think it can happen this late in the game. she has her beliefs and i can’t see them changing. onto another mother, i understood debbie’s stance in episode 7 but now she’s just being rude to ben when he doesn’t deserve it. he has been nothing but sweet and gracious to her and she’s being cold and dismissive. i get why she’s worried but it is michael’s choice who he dates and she doesn’t have to like it but there will always be tension with him if she continues to have this attitude. ben and michael were seriously cute in this episode. ben being tentative and worried and michael relentlessly pursuing him. the scene with the basketball and michael being terrible at sports and then later his being terrible at singing. i’m really glad ben gave him another chance. michael does seem a lot more sure about this relationship than he ever did with david. he was constantly second guessing himself then but now he seems much more confident and at ease. omg i cackled through the ted storyline! these kind of things always happen to him i swear nothing ever goes right. his excitement at finally getting soft was hilarious lol but poor thor. also no i don’t think that was the kid justin hooked up with. maybe just someone who looks similar.
