He's just so different than David; he actually finds interest in Michael's interests and doesn't think it's "childish" or whatever. Also I'm really glad Michael is feeling comfortable. His whole "I don't have a dream" thing was kinda silly in a way, but also I understood where he was coming from. Now he has something of his own, that he cares about, and can grow with that, rather than do the same boring thing everyday. I really like this episode with Justin and Brian. I think you summed up everything I really think about it. Brian obviously loves Justin, I mean after all they went through, it makes sense that Justin is the person he falls for. And like you said, this is a good compromise and middle for the two of them. Brian doesn't have to commit completely and worry about ruining it all, while Justin isn't completely tied down before he knows what is out there.

2023-06-01 01:46:36 +0000 UTCI´ve known Ben for one episode and I´m already in love with him! The contrast between him and David is so much! Both of them are "mature" and "intellectual" but while David always was kinda condescending and barely tolerated Michael´s passion Ben embraces and admires it! Ah it´s so good! That he is on the picture also tells me he is going to be around for a while. GOOD! I´m curious how Michael will react to the HIV thing. I hope he takes it well? I´m not sure but I think in the early 2000s it´s already not quite as bad? Of course it hits close to home, due to Vic, but hopefully that will just make it easier for him to empathise with Ben. Also since I´m literally having a queer studies course at college right now and I´ve already heard some of the names the students mentioned on their way to the lecture this felt kinda funny to watch. Honestly, I doubt any college student would complain to talk about comics or other less academic examples. I thought it was great when my professor used Elite and Modern Family as examples to illustrate some points.

2023-05-31 22:23:18 +0000 UTCidk how i forgot this is the episode we meet ben but yay! you finally know all the people in the photo you use for this show. i love that you already like him. his vibes are way better than david’s ever were that’s for sure. so happy justin’s art school re-application was accepted and he gets to stay! the thing with brian is i do believe he loves sex but i agree that it’s mostly about validation for him. he needs to feel he’s wanted and desirable. it’s why he’s so obsessed with not aging. so when the guy made that remark he had to prove to himself that he’s still got it. i do love that justin knows who he is, like he’s hurt because he doesn’t understand what they are but he’s not surprised by it. so i’m glad they were able to come to some sort of arrangement that works for them. and i’ve said it before but i love that this show doesn’t only show monogamous relationships. people willingly enter into open relationships all the time and it works for some and doesn’t for others. it doesn’t make the relationship any less real. this is a very big step for them and they both had a say in their rules which seemed fair. i agree that it’s good for both because it doesn’t force brian to have to go cold turkey monogamous to be in a relationship and it gives justin the chance to still explore and meet people and see if this works for him long term. that scene with debbie and brian is one of my favs! i can quote it by heart lol but i love that she just gets down to the root of it. she knows him, better than most, and she can see the truth. “despite all your efforts to never let another heart touch yours…that little persistent kid has somehow gotten in under the wire…admit the truth, you love him don’t you?” 😭 and he doesn’t deny it !!! but it’s just something he can’t quite say aloud yet. i love that mel was upfront and honest about her past with posing in the magazine especially knowing lindsay’s views and that she didn’t shy away from it. she owns who she is and what she’s done and hopefully it’ll help lindsay not be so judgmental. also fetch dixon is a perfect porn name lol
