Amazing that you're reacting to it, and also already loving it :D Not only is Georgina starring, the creators are the Elite creators as well. And the music supervisor is Lynn Fainchtein, who worked on the first three seasons of Elite. That's why the soundtrack is amazing too, haha. Oh, and I was the one talking about the subtitles a while back! As Beny said, the CC subtitles are based on the English dub transcript, that's why I prefer just "English". Anyway, the first ep is already great, though I had some friends who took issue with the show using a real-life terrorist attack. I personally didn't mind. Looking forward to rewatching the whole show with you!

2023-05-24 15:01:53 +0000 UTCThis was such a good first episode! I was so excited to watch this with you but now I kinda want to watch ahead with that ending lol. With the subtitles I personally prefer English (CC) because it offers a more direct translation. Like when Irene first gets to class and Da asks her a question - in the dialogue he asks between two movie titles and in the English (CC) one it’s those titles but in the English one he just asks what her favorite Almodóvar film is. I would say the difference is direct translation vs intent of dialogue. But I do think not having the direct translation causes you to miss some things. Like when they’re on the train and Julio says “we can talk about it later over a beer” but in actuality he says “after we get this one (Da) to bed we can discuss it over a beer” and I think that’s an important distinction because it’s not just at a later time but more like a now later. Idk it ultimately doesn’t make a huge difference but for me I prefer the latter.

2023-05-22 22:50:37 +0000 UTCAhhh I'm so glad you're reacting to this series!! Just so you know - the Madrid train bombings of 2004 were a real tragedy. 193 people died and over 2,000 were injured. Worth looking up if you'd like some context. You've also coincidentally posted this on Franco Masini's birthday! (the actor who plays Julio). He also plays a lead character in a Mexican Netflix series called Rebelde. I'm not sure if you can hear it in his accent, but he and his mum are Argentinian (same accent as Valentina in Elite!). Looking forward to your reaction of episode 2 :)

2023-05-22 22:46:38 +0000 UTCI´m going to watch the episode tomorrow. But just quickly. Stick with English. English (CC) is intended for hearing impaired and deaf people. It includes stuff like descriptions of music, and stuff like "gasps, breathes heavily etc." and indications who is speaking, but the subtitles are usually auto-generated and taken from the english dub of the show. While just English offers a more nuanced translation based on the original spanish script.
