2023-05-01 12:35:36 +0000 UTCthis episode is one of my favs. so sad but so good. i love any time we get more insight into brian’s life. “can you imagine growing up in that house? how did he ever survive?” “who’s to say he did?” and doesn’t that just completely summarize it? i think it’s why sex is such a clutch for him. he never felt wanted because he wasn’t, even before his birth, so now he needs to feel wanted even if it’s from strangers. i’m so glad he was able to reclaim that bowling memory and make a new one. a more positive one. one not marred by fear of homophobes. this time he didn’t run. he got to be himself and celebrate his strikes with his best friend. i agree that emmett should not have given blake the money. i get he’s just protective of ted but that was not the right thing to do. and ted found him anyway. i do love how good a friend emmett is though. my stepdad was an addict so i definitely have a close relationship with addiction and have seen first hand how rough it can be and how no matter how much you love someone and want them to get clean, it doesn’t always work out. that final ted and blake scene is a hard one to watch. operas are almost always depressing and in the one they talk about, la traviata, the woman dies in the end and they don’t get their happy ending so ted lies to blake about it, making it a happier one to give him hope. it’s kinda funny that justin had a hard time understanding why daphne was acting the way she was considering he was the same way with brian after they first had sex, and i know the circumstances were a little different and they agreed not to let things get weird but bless mel and linds for helping him get it. he really probably should have talked to them before doing it. daphne definitely went too far in her comment about him becoming a full time homosexual. i guess she was just hurt and lashing out but she should not have said it.
