From what I recall there was Fables comic book adaptation being shopped around at the time in around 2010 on ABC even. So 'modern' fairytales were on studios radar. OUAT got Disney/Romance aspect of Fables, GRIMM went dark and noir elements of it. Very simplified of course, but I remember some fandom resentments that Fables were not being made, while 2 OTHER fairytale stuff was going on :D

I haven't actually watched the show but it's just such an interesting coincidence that this and OUAT both premiered at the same time (literally this show premiered only 6 days after OUATs premiere). It just makes me wonder what was going on around 2010-11 to have 2 different networks pick up fairy-tale based properties.

Ah! I love Grimm!
I remember I definitely recommended it too.
It will forever be weird for me to watch it in english though. I know it´s the original version but I´m so used to the german dub. And especially since most of the creature´s names are german anyway it feels more natural to watch in german. And the pronounciation the actors do in english can be a little funny. For example the wolf creature from this episode "Blutbad" translates to "bloodbath"
Get used to jumping a few times. The show likes it´s jumpscares.
And the creatures can look creepy too.
I really like the special effect by the way, it looks pretty good.
I love the nice wolf! I don´t think we got a name for him actually, but he was fun.
Oh and yes, the guy in the car was the police chief.
The fairytale aspect isn´t always as strong as here. This was obviously very strongly inspired by red riding hood, but sometimes it´s just monsters with a vague connection to something.
It´s a bit early to suggest that, but you should catch up to Elite in like... 3 months. So your monday will free up. And this would be a great show to pick up!
