I love Townsends videos. They always seems to bring a smile to my heart.

I too have a few old pieces, each of which I treasure.

United Kingdom - I have some 17th century Delft tiles, which I treasure.

Deborah Scotland

United Kingdom - I just joined this morning! Am ridiculously happy about it.

Deborah Scotland

Love this kind of content!

Gabrielle McAfee

I love the window effect. Thank you for explaining how it's done in the previous video. Watching a craftsman work is so calming.

Lisa Fittinghoff

Both of these behind the scene vids were fun! And I had no idea you were ALSO a potter! Thanks! Enjoyed both vids a lot. And yes--it does look like you're sitting in the sunlight coming through a window!

Brigit Zent

What a nice breather. I love earthenware! Thank you, Jon.

Rose McGuinn

The consistency of jams and jellies is very different to loose meat, though, isn't it? With a jam or a jelly, only the very top needs to be sealed. But with potted meat, there is a lot of air space. Butter or suet can fill up the gaps in a pot of meat. Wax being inedible, I imagine it can't be used in the same way. Just a thought.

Rose McGuinn

Nice job on the window with sunlight streaming through! The frequency of light is very much like sun! I enjoyed seeing the pot get made too! So fun! Thanks!

Lane Andress

This is just bringing back all the memories about having to rebalance my wife's pottery wheel. One day we'll have a garage with a level floor. One day.

Mattonius

Yes, I usually work on an electric wheel. I like doing pottery, but really don't have the time to do much.

Jon Townsend

Centering clay on the wheel is not so easy to do! You made it look easy! I assume you normally use an electric wheel or a foot levered type wheel. You (or someone) could easily make a bunch and sell them quickly! 😉

RG de Stolfe

Great video, Jon. The lighting effect works really well. Love the little pot. Thanks for sharing.

Vicki Stevens

Luv the 'sun streaming in the window'!! U and ur staff r so talented!!

john crews

Probably when wax became more affordable. Wax was extremely expensive for a long time.

BvD

very Intresting thank you

Wesley Heidel

Pretty cool effect with the mirrors. Looks great!

Terry Iseli

Throwing pots is so relaxing. Would making pottery for sale have been an occupation where women were welcome, or was it more likely to be a male-dominated field?

Heather Torrey

Wonderful Jon. Thank you.

Dominika Sasanka

Great Grandma always sealed her jams and jellies with Paraffin wax. When did the change happen between sealed with fat, and sealed with wax?

Sue O'Connor

Thank you !

Danielle Binnom

The lighting looks totally natural. Fantastic job!

Craig Beaty

So when do these handcrafted by Jon pots go for sale? My paypal is ready! Also that "window" looks awesome! The effect is very realistic! Who ever thought of that is a genius!

Matthew H

The fake window is quite convincing.

BvD

Very keen! The window effect is fantastic. Thank you kindly for sharing.
