The future of the Deathmatch is in your hands!
Added 2023-06-25 09:45:26 +0000 UTCHello you amazing bunch! I hope you're all having an awesome weekend.
If you hadn't seen it already, the 8th game of the Start Collecting Deathmatch, the last game of the final 16 between Tau and Ad-Mech is up now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYMdEocakbk
We've had lots of people wondering how we will proceed with the series going into the quarter finals. Obviously we feel it's only right to move onto 10th edition rules, but that brings a small problem. The core rules for 10th edition really don't lend themselves well to small games, sadly. This is a huge shame in my opinion, as I've received hundreds, maybe even thousands of messages and comments saying how our small 500 point battle reports and the Deathmatch series made 40k seem more approachable and acted as a gateway into the game for them.
ANYWAY, I was wondering whether or not we should transform the Start Collecting Deathmatch into the COMBAT PATROL Deathmatch going into the quarter finals?
It would make the series more relevant for the current products that are available. Hilariously, if you didn't already know, Games Workshop announced the launch of the Combat Patrol boxes ONE DAY after the first episode of the Start Collecting Deathmatch series went live, instantly making it seem dated. So, given that it's always been "out of date", in its own way, what do you think the best way forward would be?
Either way, I'm super excited for the next game: Orks vs Eldar. Can you get a more bizarre match-up? Who do you think will win?

Comments
I'm very much in the "leave it as it is, and start a new season of it with 10th rules and Combat Patrols" camp, I'm afraid. It feels sort of... dishonest and unfair to the already-vanquished teams to change now.

2023-06-26 11:38:44 +0000 UTCSorry if it’s been said before but what about adding the combat patrol boxes to the start collecting boxes (crusade style) to have even bigger battles? Maybe increase the table size for fairness lol
