I just watched episode 3 and it's so hard watching all of these people who haven't seen each other in so long interact!!

You misremembered. The doctor confirmed that she also heard stuff. She just denied hearing the music specifically. But she said she heard other things frequently since they returned.
I feel like the picture was more alluding to Cal somehow "knowing" about the other man that his mom had a relationship with. Which is why he was directly next to the mom. But since Cal doesn´t know how he looks he is just a shadow.
And Cal still called it a family picture. I don´t think you would consider a supernatural shadow thing "family".
The transition from the picture to the murder seems more like a misdirect.
If we assume it was a "shadow man" that killed the woman. Why should it start with her instead of threatening Ben´s family when the picture implied it was close to them and not to the murdered woman.
I´m not sure if they mentioned the exact number of passengers yet,
but it´s definitely WAY more than 20.
The NSA guy was explaining that they focus their observations on those 20 because that were the people that came to the plane before it blew up.
So Ben´s son isn´t on that list because he wasn´t there.

such a great episode! the ending of this one scared the crap out of me when i first watched it!! this was the part of the show that made me go “oh…i’m invested” lol. it’s kind of the point where you see where they are going and how dark they may get!
this show, specifically the first season, does a really good job at showing both the struggle of the people who were on the plane and the people who were off the plane, so for me it’s really hard to choose who had it worse. for the people on the plane, they came back to a whole new world where the people they loved and were close to either moved on or got into trouble, so they come back feeling like they have nobody without anytime passing at all, almost like all their relationships were gone in a blink of an eye. on the other hand, you have the people off of the plane who were mourning their loved ones for 5 years, and you could say at least they came back, but that doesn’t take away from the 5 years of sadness, it had to have left a scar for both kids of parents and wives/husbands. it’s such a sticky situation that isn’t easily solvable.
cal, ban and graces son, wasn’t in the photo because he wasn’t in the group of people who were by the plane when it exploded. that’s who those 20 people were, and as you mentioned, not everybody has the same callings, so out of the 191 passengers, only 20 had the “urge” to see the plane and went, and that’s who they were suspecting/looking at in that scene.
thank you so much for a great reaction! i’m super excited for episode 3!!❤️
