I hated how she said disappearing act too, because maybe I just don't remember them mentioning it, but I don't recall them saying that Barney has ever done anything like this previously, so to make a joke about it is so insensitive.

I have to admit I´m not super familiar with Emily. I don´t think I´ve seen much of her. But I definitely recognized her from Hannah Montana lol. No we haven´t heard or seen anything about Patrick until now. So this is his introduction. I like the parallel between the situation with Barney and Patrick and the Hags. That little scene with their mom annoyed me so much. I´m not sure if she was just trying to downplay it because she was talking to a "stranger" or if she genuinely thinks that Barney is just acting up and making a big deal out of nothing. The way she called it a "disappearing act" just rubbed me the wrong way. I think the effect when Pugsley walked out was just to indicate that the elevator is kinda some sort of "portal" since it can bring you to hell. So it´s not quite "on earth" and when he stepped out he just went back fully to earth.
