I forgot about seeing Seb! I don't know how!! That just made me even more excited for this next episode lol But also scared for Redlyn. I really don't see them breaking up over this, but it's going to be hard to have a quick conversation about what's been going on. Ej and Ricky are pretty much my guilty pleasure ship that I know will never happen, but I guess we can just always continue to dream lol Someone else on Patreon brought up that good point, that they felt Ej's actions have a lot to do with his dad too and I think you're right.

We do know that it's hard for him to talk to Cash especially when plans have already been set out for how Ej's life is supposed to go for so long already, it would definitely makes sense if a decent part of him was also doing it for his dad. just in general. I also have noticed and feel bad about the way Ej has been treating Ricky. Ricky will compliment him even if it's through grinding his teeth, and Ej has just been hot headed. After all of the character growth for them both in season 2 I don't understand why they are having Ricky excel forward still and setting EJ back. I get your point about Ashlyn's story line kind of being walked along by Maddox constantly. I think it's ok for Maddox to have mad certain comments or point little things out because I think they are trying to show that even if you might not see it, you could still be giving off a completely different vibe. This is interesting for someone like Ashlyn to figure it out this way because she is big on energy and vibes, so to be obliviously to it is shocking for her. But I agree that it also would have ultimately been better for her to have been the one that really figured it out instead of Maddox basically writing out a guided check list lol

Also they confirmed season 4 is a new musical, so they kinda have to wrap up frozen in the next 2 episodes. Next week is definitely the prom, and the last episode will be the performmance. And we know that Big Red and Seb are guest characters this season, and we saw Seb in the trailer during the prom. So I assume both of them will appear next episode and we will likely have an interesting conversation between Redlyn. I´m obsessed with the possibility of EJ and Ricky and... EJ holding Ricky back from attacking Corbin was kinda cute? EJ is handling his relationship so poorly! I agree that it´s a bit much, and feels slightly out of character. But he is under immense pressure, he wants to prove himself to his dad, and to do so he tries to make everything perfect, which makes everything worse. Of course he wants the show for Gina too, and to stay with her, but I think the most important aspect is just him wanting the approval of his dad, who doesn´t really care about any of his passions. And we know from season 2 that his dad is a bit... I don´t know. "slimy businessman"? I mean, he payed EJ´s way into Duke, even though EJ didn´t get in by himself and didn´t really want to go there because of that. And their relationship never really felt great. I´m starting to think he should have taken Gina´s offer to play it cool this summer. Since he apparently fails at doing both at the same time. He made that prom scene so awkward! Like, ok there aren´t dates! Fine. You could have just said, you know, officially there aren´t any dates. But we can still just go to the prom and then hang out the entire time and basically be there together. I really like that Ricky helped setting that up by the way, that´s really sweet. Which is why I also don´t think the cliffhanger has anything to do with breaking up EJ and Gina. First of all, that will happen anyway, lol. Secondly, he wouldn´t want to hurt Gina, and also he is on good terms and friends with EJ too. Besides the occasional tension and slap. I don´t think he would seriously want to do that to him either. So it´s probably Maddison, she needs to show up eventually. And there aren´t really many opportunities anymore.

The only thing I can really think of that might kind of explain why he's blatantly ignoring Gina saying that she doesn't want to be neglected for the play is because I think as much as he's doing this for her and for them, I also think he's doing it for his dad. I think he wants his dad to think he's competent and smart and can be successful and he thinks Frozen is the way to prove that. I don't know if EJ would want to admit that but in my headcanon, it makes sense that he's ignoring what Gina's saying because ultimately he's not doing it for her even though he also is... if that makes sense. Cause really, EJ is already 18. His dad can't force him to do anything let alone run him out of SLC. Would it create new challenges for EJ having to rely on himself instead of his family's money? Sure but that could be an interesting arc for him next season and I'd be down to watch that. I think it would also be relatable to a lot of 18-22 year olds learning how to be adults for the first time on their own. Just daydreaming about next season now lol. One EJ thing that is a little irritating to me that I haven't seen anyone mention is that EJ takes all these immature jabs at Ricky cause he's jealous of Rina but then he also keeps going to Ricky and asking him to like "translate" Gina for him. Why is Gina mad at me? Why isn't Gina laughing at my jokes? Like really, EJ? Ricky has legitimately been trying to be your friend all season and you're taking advantage of that by being a jerk when you're jealous and then treating him like a friend when you need Gina's feelings explained to you. If I was Ricky, I'd be mad about it, like feelings for Gina aside, it's just a rude way to treat someone. The Rina music played twice this episode and it was heartbreaking. Once when Gina says "you're the best" *cough the parallel to the Quinceañera conversation where Ricky said that to Gina cough* and then while Ricky was crying. I know Gina doesn't know Ricky likes her but oof it had to hurt helping her decorate the entire barn for this romantic promposal for EJ. At least we can say Ricky didn't ask her to do that last season. Things are evening out a bit in the 'we've both been sad and mopey and hurt over seeing the other person in a relationship.' Like you, I was waiting on an explanation of Jet outing Maddox cause I just didn't believe it was as straightforward as purposefully outing her so I'm glad we got that. I hope we see a happy resolution for them cause they have my heart now. I really like that Ricky is like mentoring Jet (a "little Ricky") into making up for past mistakes and showing up for the people you care about because I feel like that's what the last 2 seasons have been forRicky. Learning exactly that. It's great to see his development and even though the love triangle is cliche I think it's doing a great job of contrasting S1 Ricky with S3 Ricky. I wish Ashlyn's storyline about finally realizing her feelings would have been a bit more internal. I feel like the story really relied on Maddox telling her how she felt esp to get the plot started and it just feels weird to me to be like telling someone they have romantic feelings for someone esp if you don't know them well and they're in a relationship. I do like their friendship a lot. It's just a weird story choice and as we're nearing the "end" of it I think I'm just wishing that they'd let Ashlyn do the initial freaking out that sparked it whether that was her feeling really out of place in the ensemble and left out and she doesn't have anything of her own this summer and then not having Red there either and just like her having some self-reflection or even someone commenting that she talks about her boyfriend a lot and kind of planting a seed of who am I without Red and then her exploring that at camp which leads to the Val crush reveal. I don't know. There's a reason I don't write for the show lol.
