Lady Mary SHOULD be involved in the financial side but Kate feels like she owes everything to her, helped raise Edwina and would never ruin her stepmother and sister's happiness no matter what. While she should share this...just look at her support system. Lady D has been the only one who sees Kate breaking (examples): - 1st episode shows Lady D finding out about the dowery - 2nd episode shows Lady D talking to Kate after the poetry issue when she leaves upset causing a scene (wtf was her sis and mom?) - 3rd episode Lady D even mentions to the mom and Violet about the potential roadblock of Kate during the pall-mall game (mom didn't catch anything) - 4th episode Lady D again catching the Daphne chat which shows Ed doesn't know who Anthony is, notices it's odd as well as seeing the dance and talks to Kate twice in private....still no Mary - 5th episode Lady D doesn't like the idea of the queen hosting the wedding because it's already rocky, then the grandparents from hell that somehow seem super awesome to Ed even though she never met or wrote them. Again it's Lady D with the promenade pep-talk since Mary has a hell parents migraine. Then Kate tries to at least drop some info when Ed is beaming about those grandparents who never cared to connect before - in pops Lady D for another save. And I love Mary, but they sidelined her to the point that it almost doesn't make sense and to create even more drama.
