Edwina totally takes Kate for granted! I think she was so trained to be that way though that Edwina tends to loose herself a bit. She has trouble realizing what she truly wants because she has been told what she should want for most of her life.

She literally gave a speech to her sister admitting that she wants Antony because of his title and money and the comfortable lifestyle that he can provide her (unlike the book Edwina who was accepting his attentions halfheartedly because she wanted to find love, not money and a title). Yet somehow we are supposed to feel sorry for Edwina, like Kate has cheated her out of happiness by truly falling in love with Antony (not his title or money) and blaming her for Antony falling in love with her while still pursuing a loveless marriage with Edwina! It is the other way around, I feel sorry for Kate! Edwina is so selfish and entitled in the show, wanting money over love and so self indulged that she does not realize Kate and Antony are actually in love with each other. Antony tries to ignore it out of trauma from his past, and Kate tries to ignore it out of love for her sister (a love that in my opinion is taken for granted).
