I'm a Brit and was disappointed by all the dismissive USA youtubes when the film came out over there but I'm getting the distinct impression it's going to become a cult movie in the future and will be looked back on as a classic.

After watching this vid, I feel like if Freddie Mercury saw "Bohemian Rhapsody" and then "Better Man," he'd look at his bandmates and Bohemian Rhapsody writers and say something like, "Why couldn't I have been a cgi animal in my movie, too? You bastards had one job: not make me boring, and you f*ing blew it!" Not that it would've fixed all the problems Bohemian Rhapsody has, but still. Makes me wonder what if Freddie Mercury was portrayed as a cgi lion/cat or something in "Bohemian Rhapsody."

first of all, i’m an old. and american. saw take that at an i-heart radio-type concert. don’t think robbie was a member at that point. went to visit my dad who was living in london and saw a robbie video on mtv. perked up immediately because i had a hard time wrapping my head around a robbie williams song being that good. picked up a copy of “the ego has landed” upon returning home (the US version is a combination of the first two UK albums, so chock-a-block with good stuff!) and proceeded to turn my musician friend on to him as well. that culminated in him being featured in an NME pub crawl article - singing robbie williams karaoke. brilliant stuff. tried to get through the netflix documentary, but it was just too many episodes. was wary of this movie, but it was on my list. watched your review last night and finally bit the bullet today. my take is that it is enjoyable, funny and unique both because of the monkey aspect, but more so because of the warts and all presentation. he just doesn’t come off as very likable during huge portions of this movie. and i appreciate that! but like the documentary, it’s LONG! too long. (SPOILERS) and while i know it happened in real life, fuck his dad! why does he get the redemption story??? why would his ex-wife be applauding him at the end? no. just no. but still recommended to a friend.
