Vote on topics for Bonus Video - January

Got some great topics for you all this new year.
I received another good Beach Boys one so I temporarily retired the previous BB topic so as to not split the vote between them.
I wanted to ask though... is this too many topics? I was concerned about the paradox of choice and am considering lowering the max number of topics to vote on (ironically, as a way of calculating this amount I may use another poll that you can also all vote on).

I maintain that SMiLE is the greatest artistic loss in history. It breaks my heart just thinking about it. I’ve listened to The Smile Sessions more times than any human reasonably should. I really hope you can make a video about it someday.

2025-01-20 15:49:21 +0000 UTCMaybe split polling into two phases. After topic submitters submit, people in the topic-submitter tier and up get to vote amongst all the submissions to narrow it down. The top 3-5 from that first round then get passed to the rest of the Patreon to vote on. Basically you add an extra bonus to the topic submission tier where we get to do an initial voting round just among ourselves.

2025-01-19 14:24:16 +0000 UTCIn response to your question about having so many topics, I agree we need a mechanism for narrowing the field (mostly because we now how a large group of voters). Thus, I too recommend limiting the poll to about five topics, but I also think you could do something else, such as: (1) have a sccond poll of only the top X options, or (2) send a request that we change our vote to the X most popular topics at about the 2-day mark since by thenb most of us appear to have voted. X = the number of strong contenders for that month. That would actually boost early voting.

The story’s just kinda “this 70s band sounds Beatlesesque so they must actually be the Beatles secret reunion. actually wait, no just kidding but they’re still pretty decent” so I wasn’t sure how much more there really was to it lol thanks again!

2025-01-18 23:59:32 +0000 UTCI would amend the Bowie option to just be an exploration of his personas instead of a ranking, simply because everyone’s idea of David Bowie is so different, and people can get very nitpicky. This was a VERY tough choice, though, because all of the ideas sound great!! I’ll be happy with whatever wins ☺️☮️
