[Early Access!] Beatles '64 + U.S. Albums Boxset | Review

Hello Patrons!!

I am so delighted to be sharing this early access link to my latest Youtube video!
In it I cover the two recent releases that celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Beatles' debut arrival in America: the documentary 'Beatles '64' and the boxset release of their U.S. albums from this same period.

I hope you're excited to watch a video from me (I know I haven't released much lately but I've got some great videos coming in the first quarter of next year).

Oh, and watch to the end for some bonus gags post-credits.

Hope you're all having a happy holiday season.

E.

It always strikes me as odd how ugly and amateurish the american albums look, compared to the brilliant UK album cover designs.

Thanks for sharing, Marty!

Hi Elliot, I’ve just found your channel and I’m so happy, I’m such a Beatles geek and I love your content!! Thank you for your videos! I also really appreciate what you said in the review that, what touched you the most in the documentary, was the discussion on masculinity, because that’s my favourite part too, and it’s something I always loved about them, and I though it was really cool that other people had the same impression about them and talked about it. Its really interesting that even though they played a big part in that evolution, even they still couldn’t be entirely free at the time, but I appreciate that they were able to inspire other men today to challenge toxic masculinity.

Beatles '64's lack of rumble support was a disappointment.

Had me on the on the floor. More Nintendo references!!!!

Luved it-John playing the opening notes of strawberry fields was amazing! The exuberance of fans is just so joyous to me

I liked the doc. I remember I noticed some *I think* wonky AI they used to restore some of the live performance footage. One of the performances later in the doc, if you look at the The Beatles logo on Ringo’s drum, it starts the warp the letters. I also recall their faces getting very smudged when they were in the distance. Did anyone else experience something like this?

I’ve seen that footage on the train before, it always cracks me up when a very pouty Paul says “I’m not in a laughing mood even!” Oh no, panic, George is cracking everybody up and getting all the attention, this was definitely NOT part of the plan! 😂 They were young………

David Beckey

Sometimes to really understand the Beatles, we just need to watch them being themselves, something this document does phenomenally

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you as far as the documentary goes. I watched it as soon as I got to the hotel from my grandparents' house in Ohio. Watching it all the way through late at night was a trip, and I loved almost every minute of it. I never tire of Paul and Ringo's stories, even if they're ones I've heard a million times before. As a George girl myself, I identified with those talking heads who mentioned George as their favorite. I even thought the Carnegie Hall anecdote was hilarious. I also loved your Beatles '64 on the Nintendo 64 sketches; that was hysterical. They’re like a lighthearted parody of an AVGN episode.

I loved seeing all the fans in the film, they were so sweet and free and excited. It serves as a nice balance for all the boorish male posturing of some male fans that comes much later. My ears pricked up seeing the Anthology era footage here as well, dare we hope that an updated version may happen? Maybe sooner than we think? I'd also quite like to play Beatles 64, dodging cops and trying to sneak as many jelly babies into their room sounds like a scream.

Would’ve loved to have heard yours!

Great review... yes .. Eleaine's cover along with mine and a few others were randomly found by the producers and chosen to be included in the film.. in the end they only used Elaine's but the Beatles IG posted all the covers that were on the cutting room floor so that was a wonderful consolation.. Ive told elaine how to release her cover using Distrokid but she has not used it yet,.... Im really surprised how chill she is about this huge breakthrough in her career.... but to each their own ... i wish her luck.. she has a great voice!

The N64 reference is amazing lmao

Thanks so much for your positive energy. So rare to see and hear someone talk about The Beatles and yet still have something original to say.

Really fascinating the talk about how much the Beatles were a more positive form of Masculinity that was non-threatening for some people as opposed to Elvis. I never really thought about how their combination of masculine and feminine energy is one of the reason they are still loved. Glad that you enjoyed it as it is getting so many mixed reviews. One hopes they release the original documentary it was based on remastered. More Beatles is always a good thing.
