[Early Access!] I saw Paul McCartney

SURPRISE!

New video about my time seeing Paul McCartney perform live last week.
I'm probably going to keep this just on Patreon for a few days (and then on Youtube next week) because there's going to be a major Beatles announcement in a few hours (it's gotta be 'Now and Then surely!) and that announcement is probably going to foster another YouTube video that I'll want out before this one.
Phew! Lot's going on. I'm going be making and releasing videos all week I think!

[Early Access!] I saw Paul McCartney

Comments

I got to see this tour in Orlando last year and it was my first time seeing Paul, it made me so appreciative of the fact that he does play the big hits. He says a lot in interviews that he’s super aware that there’s always people in the audience that have never seen him. That being said, it would be awesome to see some more obscure tracks, Letting Go was a fun surprise for me too

Oh wow! I’m curious, what did he say to the horn player?

Also due to the trauma of Taylor Swift’s ticketek experience, I may have overspent on my tickets out of stress. I know after the show I won’t regret it hahaha

I get to see him on Wednesday night so i’m going to wait until Thursday to watch this. Got to see him last time in 2017 (I think it was 2017) and I’m so excited to go again and see what’s been changed.

One of the coolest musical moments of my life was watching Macca soundcheck the band for more than an hour on a heavily guarded main stage at Bonnaroo one night. He swore at a horn player and jammed an extended improvised blues number, the chorus of which just went "Bonnaroooooo". It was fully surreal, all that was missing was the tea set and a hat maker.

Does he ever play Fool on the Hill? I saw him in 2014 in Atlanta, and he didn't play it there. That one is definitely on my dream setlist.

Amazing video as always! I was at the concert, and cried during Something. We are truly lucky to be able to see this man live play for 3 hours straight

So far, I've "heard" him three times at concerts, but not seen him. Back in 2009, my partner and I met after work and went over to Fenway Park where he was playing. She and I circled the park as he played, including material from The Fireman. When he got to "Eleanor Rigby," an elderly man fist pumped and let out a gutteral "Yeah!" as if it were "Helter Skelter." That amused us. Back in those days, there were fewer high rises around the park, so we walked toward Mass Ave and could still hear him doing "I've Got a Feeling." Last year, I was in two separate plays, each one rehearsing on one of the two nights he was playing at Fenway. The first of the two nights, I drove from Somerville to Fenway and circled the park by car in the rain as I listened to a couple of the songs, including seeing the fireworks during "Live and Let Die." The second night, I took the T from Boston Playwrights Theatre, with the intention of getting to Fenway to catch the second half of the concert. I saw a group of kids in town for Boston University's orientation and they were looking for something to do. They saw that the train line ended at "Governor's Center." I corrected them: "Government Center." I said I was going over to Fenway to listen to Paul McCartney. They said that sounded like fun, so they tagged along with me. I learned that one of the kids' mom worked for Madison Square Garden, so he got to see a lot of concerts, like Billy Joel. There was another kid that was a Beatlemaniac. I hung out with them until before the encore, when they decided to go exploring. At that point, I went over to a merch table and bought a t-shirt of Paul (circa "Ram") pulling a face against a blue square. Most people don't even know it's Paul, but I knew. But if I ever get an opportunity to see him live, I'm going to make sure it actually happens.

Saw his return to Baltimore last year for the first time since 1964 and it was an honest-to-goodness life highlight. Sweating in my Wings Over America long-sleeved shirt, I geeked out so hard at the Wings songs and was gobsmacked at everything solo and Beatles. I'll always have that memory with me and I'm so thankful for that.

Oh bummer! One day.

That's a wonderful endorsement for Fuh You!

Cool video! I was close to being able to see him in Forth Worth but unfortunately me and my friend weren’t able to travel because we had work the same day as the concert and it would’ve been about a 7 hour drive from where we live 😭

Wonderful review. I've seen him twice , in 2OO2 and 2OO5. He still amazes me. The stamina! I know you don't love "Fuh You," but it helped me lose over 1OOlbs.
