You’ve made fascinating points all throughout, especially in regards to “anti-franchise filmmaking” and the desire for that nostalgic connection. There’s an odd simplicity to them, a callback to the pre-franchise filmmaking days of the “middle movie” that superhero films and other mega-franchises largely drove away. I recently watched hbomberguy’s “Roblox Oof” video (a really good video, BTW) and it struck me about a possible danger of brand biopics - actual creatives being lost because of egotistical higher-ups taking all of the credit. Thankfully, these movies avoid that problem (especially Blackberry).
