Bonus Video: My COVID-addled ramblings on 'Elvis'

Hey top tier Patrons!

I'm back from the trip and I've seen Baz Luhrman's 'Elvis!' I also have COVID so please enjoy me ramble on about it (hopefully somewhat coherently) as this month's bonus video :)

I really enjoyed the Elvis movie. Direction was a great fit for the story, costumes were awesome, and fun to see so many Australian actors! Tom Hanks was distracting- he felt like a children's villain with the silly accent and mountains of make up/prosthetics and with the Tom Hanks of it all.

I may discuss I'm Not There in future at some stage but nothing planned so far.

You've talked a bit about I'm Not There. I'd love to see a more detailed treatment of it. It's not my favorite biopic, but it's by far the boldest in form. Could other biopics like I'm Not There (presenting avatars of the subject) work? Or can that structure only work once? Is the structure all the movie has to offer? Could it have been done differently? Would artists or their families be reluctant to see their life made fiction like that? I'd also love a detailed look at my favorite movie of all time, INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS. It's not a Dave Van Ronk biopic (let alone Tom Paxton), but it evokes a place and time in a really beautiful and original way. And the music is incredible.
