[Early Access!] New video: Every John Lennon Album Ranked Worst to Best

It's finally here!
Here is my ranking video of all of John Lennon's solo albums. This is out early for Patrons and then in 2-3 days I'll publish on YouTube. Please let me know what you think of it! If you notice something (be it an editing mistake or just a fun fact) let me know because I can make changes if need be up to when I post to YT.

Also, for the top-tier patrons, I apologise but I have simply run out of time for a bonus video this month. I really needed to get this video done by the end of April and I've had quite a bit on this month so please forgive me and I promise I'll make it up to you!

This video was so gorgeous, Elliot! Absolutely killed it. The audio of the audience at the Elton concert gave me goosebumps. There were so many photos I'd never seen, and details about John's life that I wasn't aware of. One of my main takeaways from your video is that while his death was an indisputable tragedy, I'm glad that he found his peace, to an extent, before he died. He got through the Beatles' breakup, survived the FBI, struggled through his Lost Weekend, before finding a place of peace as a father, reconciling with Paul, and rediscovering his music. From a distance, that's a hell of a redemption arc, especially when so many artists who die prematurely do so in a state of distress or turmoil. Just my two cents.

This was well crafted and really beautiful. Excellent work..again! Ps: pleaseee make a ranked Beatles video after the Harrison one. 🙏💛

Another good video! And thank you for addressing the dark stuff too. A lot of that was why I avoided Lennon's music in favor of McCartney's, and it helps to have perspective and context on it.

This was a really good watch, thank you so much for sharing! My list is pretty close w/ yours except I have Mind Games further down, it just doesn’t do it for me. The line in ‘God’ that really hits me is ‘I was the walrus but now I’m John,’ it’s more personal than the world losing a great band, it’s John losing his identity as ‘a Beatle’ and it makes me so sad to hear every time. Super excited for the George video!! (I think you should do a Ringo video as well, not as good imo but still worth listening to)

Totally worth the wait! I actually value your opinion on music & such so I definitely love these videos. There were some songs I hadn’t really listened to enough so this makes me want to go back to them & give them another listen. Also, I have to say that Imagine was my introduction to John Lennon’s solo stuff. So yes, it is at the top of my list as well. And out of all of those tracks, “How?” was & is my favorite from it. It is a simple song that made a impact on me at such a young age. The lyrics & the sound are just…wow. As an adult, it definitely hits differently. Anyway, I really love these videos & I’m ridiculously excited for the George video!!

Incredible Elliot, well done on the ranking. Matched my rankings to a tee.

Another GREAT video - thank you so much! Let me assure you that none of us who were around in 1969 found Yoko Ono's "wailing" to be in any way "enthralling;" the only reason I can imagine anyone tolerating a live performance of it is b/c they wanted to see John. I really appreciate your honesty about her - how you don't enjoy her "wailing" & many of her other attempts at making what she apparently considered to be "avant garde" sounds, but do think she's a good lyricist & a sometimes charming singer. I'm really glad you talked about John's relationship w/Julian, and wonder what you think of May Pang's more recent disclosures about her relationship w/John - both written and spoken.

Great Video and I loved how you tackled it song by song this time allowing for almost a review of each album fully within a review of his career great work! My List Goes Something like: 1. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band 2. Imagine 3. Double Fantasy 4. Mind Games (idk I really like One Day at a Time and other songs off the album) 5. Walls & Bridges 6. Milk & Honey 7. Rock’N’Roll 8. Some Time in NYC and then experimental is all the same as you Thanks again for making this video and don’t worry about the Patreon tier video, this video alone early is well worth the price, keep doing what your doing 👍

Looks like I joined Patreon on the right day! Saving this for the train journey to London next weekend! Would love to see a George Harrison video like this! 😊

I think the Elton John concert was Thanksgiving 1974, not 1975, right? I mean, that's how he reunited with Yoko in time for them to conceive Sean to be born October 8, 1975.

The best mid-week gift? A 1-hour thirty ranking of John Lennon's solo work! Thank you Elliot !
