Our first entry is “Goosebumps” created in 1997. While this one technically predates 3GI by seven years, it still captures the spirit perfectly: improvisational, chaotic, and childish. The seeds of 3GI were already there, just hidden under layers of VHS fuzz.
I picked this one to kick off the series because it’s Halloween season, and I’ve loved Halloween ever since I was a kid. I think holding onto your childhood enthusiasm for things is important. You can see the early influences here: me goofing around with friends, getting interrupted by my unruly younger brother, and making something spooky just for fun. This is what filmmaking is all about. Even now, when I work on films, I still “member dis.”
