Hello esteemed Patrons!
I know it has been pretty quiet here and on social media ever since we posted the Shrek 2 Retold trailer back in May, so we are well overdue for some updates and announcements.
First of all, Shrek 2 Retold is moving along towards completion at a phenomenal pace. Everyone on the management team is working tirelessly each and every day to complete this project and so are each of the artists we are still working with to breathe special life into specific scenes.
That being said, Shrek 2 Retold will not be completed by the September 28th planned release date, and we are not ready to announce a new release date at this time. I think it makes the most sense to only announce a new release date once the film is 100% finished and the only thing left is to promote it. Then the focus can be celebrating and creating some awesome promos.
We took steps back in May to schedule out each of the remaining tasks on the project and felt confident that it could be completed by September. But as is the nature of these things, even while treating Shrek 2 Retold basically as a full-time job, it can be hard to accurately predict how long it takes to complete any given task to that 3GI standard of unique quality we pride ourselves in.
I deeply value everyone here on the Patreon who has financially supported 3GI over the years. I know many of you are here because you want the full scoop as to what is going on behind the scenes with Shrek 2 Retold. Since it has been a while, and this post comes with a delay announcement, it's only fair that you guys get a super special and ultra detailed nearly 2-hour long update video featuring co-dirctors/producers Grant Duffrin and Conner Japikse, animators Esteban "Scribblin" Enriquez and Austin Lane, and digital wizard Roughy.
We go into immense detail to show you all the wonderful things the Shrek 2 Retold crew has been up to lately. I think this will be an immensely satisfying watch for everyone here, thank you everyone for your support and patience!
Oh yeah, one more thing...
Are you a Patron who joined too late to get a scene on the project? How about someone who already contributed but is yearning for more? A fun little finishing touch to the film we thought would be fun to add is to have a choir of Patrons sing both the Dreamworks logo intro song and the last couple lines of the finale song. If your interested, click here for more information. Thanks everyone!
