Here's the full length reaction to Predator! This movie had me ON EDGE just about the whole time! Enjoy!

PREDATOR - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

If you want to see him with some Range as an actor, compare this to things like Twins(1988), Kindergarten Cop(1990), True Lies(1994), and Jingle All The Way(1996)... Not forgetting Last Action Hero(1993), of course.

Richard Ryan

Well, the Predator itself brings the sci-fi aspect. I just say 'sci-fi action/thriller.' Of course, it still annoys me that people call Star Wars 'sci-fi' when, really, it's technically fantasy with prominent sci-fi elements (and it's the movies likely responsible for the 2 genres being loosely lumped together for the longest time πŸ˜”).

Byrd N. Hand

too many people say sci-fi horror when it's more thriller, combining action and horror elements.

Ben Seigel

Great reaction. The build up in this movie is very tense, especially with the use of music. I think the general consensus is that the Predator is a young 'Jungle Hunter' attempting to pass his warrior/hunting trials. They need to prove themselves worthy by hunting honourable targets and collecting their skulls as trophies. I hope you react to Prey since that's pretty damn good too.

KJ

lol how? I guess they are both films. That's something they have in common.

Not the best analogy... unless you meant that "Prey" is a lazy rehash of this movie and full of shallow, pandering fan service. πŸ€”

Byrd N. Hand

Prey was the Force Awakens of the Predator franchise.

I'm so glad you watched this. It's probably the definitive 80s action movie. If you want another good Arnie movie, try "Total Recall".

Hello there, Addie!! I’ll give you one guess who was my favorite character. (kind of an easy one) I just wish we could have seen that head to head fight! Despite a packed cast but no Arnold, Predator 2 is just okay in continuing the story, just a different setting. Fast forward to 2004.. we get the battle of Alien vs Predator. Decent action. Last year, Imo, both of those took a backseat to PREY. I’m hoping that you will see that. Have a good weekend. Take care, Addie!!

100% would’ve been better if they shot the whole thing in Comanche. Usually I’ll never watch anything dubbed but this was the rare time the dubbed version worked better for me. I saw it twice Comanche dubbed and twice regular, and the Comanche dubbed actually felt more immersive and had a better flow. It helped that all the actors did their own voices.

Chip MC

I don't think it works well as a dub track. It breaks the immersion for me. I would've rather seen them really go for it and shoot the movie natively in Comanche, with English subtitles.

This was a good movie. While Arnie and the Predator each did great, for me Bill Duke (Mac) steals the show. It is silly but Mac grieving punches me in the feels every single time.

...or better yet, a compilation of jump scares from ALL of your reactions, including all the snake scares and at the end of your reaction to Jurassic Park (1993) when Jeremy grabbed your shoulder. BTW, those body heat scanner jump scares remind me of the title card jump scares from your reaction to The Shining (1980).

Prey was so good. It was def one of the highlights of 2022. I truly loved that movie. It was a total surprise and it was pretty cool seeing so many other esteemed filmmakers like Barry Jenkins praise the movie on twitter the day it was released. The Comanche Dub version of the movie was πŸ”₯

Congrats on seeing one of the most iconic movies of the 80's! The rest of the Predator movies are a mixed bag. Thankfully, they aren't dependent on each other, so you can pick and choose: Predator 2(1990) - more cheesy, but not terrible. There are minor references to it in The Predator and Prey, but you can still skip this one without being lost if you watch those sequels Predators(2010) - I know some people liked it, but I wasn't a fan The Predator(2018) - amusing at times, but not very good imho Prey(2022) - MUST SEE! Easily one of 2022's best movies. Alien vs Predator(2004) - Since you've seen the first to Alien movies, you might find this one interesting. It's flawed, to be sure. But it's still fun. Alien vs Predator:Requiem(2007) - Hot garbage, don't even bother.

[Predator body heat scanner sound effect] Addie is jumpscared every time. Worth it. 😁 You should edit together a string of all your jumpscares at the end of the Youtube version. lol

Favorite fun movie fact: Kevin Peter Hall who plays the Predator is the helicopter pilot at the end. He gets to speak the last line of the movie, "What the..."

DarthChef

now to watch the sequal and alien vs predator 😝

Adore this film and how it goes from an 80s action film with cheesy one liners to thriller in the vein of Alien. The Predator is 100% practical played by Kevin Peter Hall who was 7 feet 2 inches tall and even returned for the sequel. The original Predator design was very different looking like a bug from outer space, wild looking Mantis creature. Predator like alot of 80s films has so many other films that come close to the original or just fall flat. Predator 2 is fun got lower reviews but I stand by it as a fun film with a unique setting. Predators from 2010 is fun I enjoyed it for doing something pretty different. Predator 2018 is just meh couldn't get into the film and overall felt like a massive disappointment. And finally Prey which I loved my 3rd favourite film behind Predator 2 and 1 they just nailed everything about this film. You then have the Alien vs. Predator the first one is okay but the sequel is just not very good. The Alien vs Predator comics though are so cool and unique with alot of them feeling like Aliens 2 with the badass Colonial Marines but with Predators thrown into the mix. They're more connected to the setting of the Aliens movies. You also have Predator comics as well by Dark House comics showcasing different stories throughout history and modern day featuring Predator encounters, Prey itself feels like a story pulled from a Predator comic book. I personally prefer the Alien vs Predator comics but I do recommend at least watching the first Alien Vs Predator film just heads up that Alien Vs Predator aren't regarded as canonical to Alien or Predator. The Prequal Alien movies also clash's with elements featured in Alien vs Predator but the idea of Aliens and Predators movies sharing a universe is still possible even if the movies aren't canon there's other media like games, and comics that showcase them as a shared world. Recommend: Predator 2 (1990) Alien vs Predator (2004) - Not seen as Canon Predators (2010) Prey (2022)

this is so good! very excited for this

Speaking of John McTiernan, I also suggest The Hunt For Red October (1990, part of the Jack Ryan film series), Medicine Man (1992), Last Action Hero (1993, also with Schwarzenegger), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), The 13th Warrior (1999), and Basic (2003). #MoreJohnMcTiernanForAddieCounts And speaking of Carl Weathers, I also suggest Rocky (1976) & Happy Gilmore (1996). #MoreCarlWeathersForAddieCounts

Let's give Addie a round of applause for surviving Predator (1987). πŸ‘πŸ‘ Happy Friday. This movie really is ONE WILD RIDE. So wild that you might wanna "GET TO DA CHOPPA!". I even own the film on DVD in both Widescreen (1.85:1) and Full Screen (1.33:1) formats and that's how I'm watching it tonight. It's also cool that you recognized Carl Weathers in this movie, after having seen The Mandalorian. Two other Arnold Schwarzenegger movies that I would love for you to watch soon, after having felt on edge from this one, are Twins (1988) & Kindergarten Cop (1990). You'll definitely love those as they're both light-hearted and from the same director of Ghostbusters (1984). And yes, that snake in the movie IS a friendly-neighborhood don't-mind-me snake. There were also snakes invading the ENTIRE camp, during filming. Now that's what I call, Snakes on a Film Set. BTW, nice sweater.

Alex Tan

Get to the Choppa!!! I've loved this movie since I saw it as a kid
