DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness! Like the title suggests, this movie is MADNESS!!! I thought the first Doctor Strange movie was trippy, but this was a whole 'nother level! I'm so glad I watched What If before this because of the connections with some of the characters we met in that show. I thought What If was just a show to give a better understanding of the Multiverse, so it was a pleasant surprise to see some familiar characters :) I'm very curious to see what happens next in the MCU for the main characters in this film (is a certain someone alive...?). Enjoy!

DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

The movie itself was fine. They just did Wanda dirty. It makes sense but she had already been through so much.

I know this movie was controversial when it first came out, some loving it, others hating it. Count me among those loved it, in fact it's one of my top five MCU movies. As for the haters I can only assume some that is due people being on the "everything in Phase 4 sucks" bandwagon, because I really can't see how anyone can actually hate this film, and the haters I've asked about this film have never given me a coherent reason why. It usually comes down to "everything Phase 4 sucks because it's not as good as Infinity War/Endgame".

Just because you're not impressed doesn't mean it's not impressive. I far as I know turning music into physical attack forms has never been done in a movie (or anywhere else, for that matter) before. Since it appears that Strange did it on the fly it wouldn't be as complex as you appear to need it to be to impressed, but that's just you.

I'm on the fence with this movie. On one hand, I like the concept and the story and the expanding of the multiverse, not to mention seeing Xavier and Reed Richards (complete with Marvel throwing the fans a bone with casting Krasinski). But...if I'm honest...I'm not a big fan of Rami's directing style. Just a personal thing. And I feel like there was a tug-of-war of sorts between Rami and Marvel about the tone and direction of the movie. Like, Rami wanted to dive more into the horror aspect, but Marvel needed it to still be a Marvel movie for their regular audience, and it just left the movie feeling a little unbalanced. I dunno, just me probably. And as for Wanda? No body, no death. That's the rule.

Tony Sanson

Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine.

Doug Watson

Thanks Addie, alleviates so much confusion, also means I can go through the Q&A's at a slower pace :D

Andrew Polinski

Oh haha, I didn't get a chance to read your comment where you mentioned What If... Oh I want to watch this reaction even more now... but not yet, I hope to get the chance soon.

Em McG

Well it was the first time he ever even knew this power existed, so he kinda wasn’t an expert at it yet. TAKE IT EASY

Chris Mignemi

I'm watching Moon Knight next. I watched this Doctor Strange movie before Moon Knight because my Patrons let me know that Moon Knight isn't necessary to watch before this movie (and I'm trying to be mindful of not just watching shows). Still planning on watching Ms. Marvel as well but that'll be after Moon Knight

Addie Counts

Someone might be able to answer this because trying to go through all Q&A's and comments would be a long and arduous task, are we going to get reactions to the other shows like Moonknight, Ms Marvel etc and what is this watch order because it's neither chronological or release order.

Andrew Polinski

I get so triggered when people are impressed by the music battle. No its not creative. Every battle has music. They just turned his magic energy powers into notes. They're shaped like notes and make the note when they impact. Woopdie doo. The kind of thing a small child would find impressive. They didnt use music creatively in the fight. Like a chorus as a time loop, or building energy with a sonic feedback loop. They just did note-shaped energy blasts.

Koala Banana

this was such a dope reaction vid. i actually enjoyed the movie more this time than i did the first time. also your jump scare to the monster guy in the throne room scared the shit out of me hahah. how fitting that it came at the hands of horror legend, sam raimi.

So for classifying the Stranges in the Multiverse that we've seen. Theres Strange Supreme from What If, and he was not in this movie, as, if you remember, he's chilling in a little pocket dimension watching over Arnim Zola and Killmonger. Plus, he had a bit of redemption, and never had the Darkhold, so I don't think he'd be against our Strange if he came to him. Then, the Strange in a ponytail at the beginning of the movie, that was then Zombie Strange, is called Defender Strange. His magic being a different color, defending rather than attacking. The Strange that fought our Dr. Strange in that epic music fight, was called Sinister Strange. Loved the creativity of that fight as well. Really loved this movie, and man that line at the end with Christine is so touching. "I love you in every universe." Like damn! Don't tug at my heart like that! πŸ˜… I also didn't expect to love Wong as much as I do. But he's quickly just becoming a favorite of mine. Can't wait to see your reactions to Moon Knight, Addie! That's a show for the books!

The director, Sam Raimi, also directed the Toby Maguire Spider-Man films. Bruce Campbell, who played the self-punchy guy, has a long history with Raimi. Campbell played the ring announcer in Spider-Man, the usher in Spider-Man 2, and the maitre d' in Spider-Man 3.

Luis Fernandez

Honestly, this movie should have been called The Scarlet Witch and the Multiverse of Madness

No body = still alive

Luckily you've seen What If... and therefore you start off on the right footing... regardless of where it ends... (and I haven't seen the reaction yet)

Em McG

There's no way that Wanda's dead given how powerful she is and she still needs to reunite with Vision and live their happily ever after!

Equinox

Hear, hear. I would love to see Addie watch Fantastic Four (2005) and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). It also has Chris Evans in it as Johnny Storm/Human Torch. #FantasticFourDuologyForAddieCounts

So sad to see Wanda like that :( But overalit was a crazy ride of a movie! Can’t wait to check it out again later today since I’ve only saw it in theaters so it’s been a while.

JerichoFalls

Yeah I though Moon Knight came before this if going by release order? I know a couple MCU Release Order lists online only have the movies on there. So perhaps that’s the one Addie is using? I’ve been going off the GamesRadar one but the next listings in Google for me, The Wrap and Rotten Tomatoes, don’t have the shows in the list.

Since you saw this I will mention that I enjoyed this more than other people. The multiverse is growing and has cool scenes. The Charles you met is a variant of him from the X-Men movies but it implies that the X-Men movies are part of the multiverse similar to Tobey and Andrew’s Peter’s worlds. Because you met a version of Mr Fantastic (stretch guy) it would be cool if you could react to the 2005 Fantastic Four movie to get to know him and his team. Not related to this version of Mr Fantastic but had to mention it. Black Bolt is the leader of the Inhumans which is similar to the X-Men in terms of powers but he’s a king. This is a version of the character played by the same actor who portrayed him in the short lived mini series from 2017 which people didn’t like.

Happy Monday. Your reaction to Xavier was great. Now you're a little introduced to Reed Richards, (If you have time) I recommend watching the older Fantastic Four movies from 2005-2007, just so you can get a little more background about Fantastic four as a whole.

DazzMetalStorm

*Whole *other* level πŸ˜‡

This film essentially is the Introduction of the Xmen into the MCU I think, if not, still cool to see proffessor x. Im excited for you to continue the X men movies and get to Deadpool and LOGAN. In for a ride.

Speaking of Sam Raimi, I suggest The Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn (1987), Army of Darkness (1992), and Drag Me To Hell (2009, UNRATED), all for Halloween. Speaking of Rachel McAdams, I suggest Wes Craven's Red Eye (2005). And speaking of John Krasinski, I suggest 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016, directed by Michael Bay), and also for Halloween, A Quiet Place (2018) & A Quiet Place Part II (2020).

Happy Monday, Addie. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) really is MADNESS. Wanda really is terrifying in this one as she is now Scarlet Witch. The funniest part IMO is when Pizza Poppa was punching himself, thanks to Strange. Luckily it wore off after the credits. I enjoyed seeing it in the theater with my girlfriend and a friend of ours, although it wasn't in IMAX 1.90:1. I finally watched that version when it first cane out on Disney+.

Alex Tan

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 Ever since you started "What If" I was so excited for you to get to this movie. I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. I love the character of America Chavez played by Xochitl Gomez. Elizabeth Olsen was fantastic as both Wanda with her kids, and as The Scarlett Witch. And of course, Benedict Cumberbatch was great as the different versions of Doctor Strange. And the whole scene with the Illuminati, and when America takes the Scarlett Witch to her children towards the end are two of my favorite parts of this movie. And since you're watching the "X-Men" movies you're familiar with Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier, and since you've already watched "What If" you now know about Captain Carter. And we got to see Maria Rambeau as Captain Marvel. Loved the Stephen and Christine moments of them working together. I still think that Wanda is somehow still alive, and that she might show up in a later movie. And regarding Stephen Strange's third eye, according to the comics it allows Strange to see his enemies' true intentions and break magical illusions. I can't wait to see how that will play out in future movies. Have a great day today. 😊

So as you're watching the X-Men movies don't worry this is a new variant of Charles Xavier not the same one from the X-Men movies. Earth-838 is also a newly introduced universe not shown in any other media besides Multiverse of Madness. The Charles of this universe is inspired visually by the Professor X from the 90s Animated Series featuring his iconic yellow hoverchair and green suit with blue tie. They also played the 1990s X-Men theme as well but it's not the Animated Series Professor X. This Charles also draws from the Fox X-Men movie being played by Sir Patrick Steward and even quoting a line from one of the X-Men movies so he's like a mix of both the 1990s Animated Series and the 2000s X-Men Movies. Captain Carter is not the same one from What.... If but they both most likely shares same history of the one we see in that show so don't worry about her death. Pretty much everyone in this universe are new variants of characters we've only met. Reed Richards is a member of the Fantastic Four created in 1961 two years before The Avengers in 1963. Should note that John Krasinski did not play Mister Fantastic in any other film from the Fox 2000s films to the Reboot in the 2010s instead he was fan cast as Mister Fantastic for the MCU. It's unclear if he's playing Mister Fantastic of the main universe as there is a Fantastic Four film confirmed for the MCU but I guess we have to wait and see. I do like how Earth-838 has the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Inhumans, and X-Men all co existing together like in the comic's it's just closer to what I grew up reading it's just a shame that we'll never see Tony Stark interacting with Reed Richards or Wolverine working alongside Steve Rogers Captain America unless they do flashbacks to WW2 where in the comic's they fought together. The Illuminati themselves actually from the comics a group formed by Iron Man in Earth-616 the main comic universe. The members were Namor representing Atlantis, Tony Stark representing the Avengers, Reed Richards representing the science-based superhero community, Black Bolt representing the Inhumans, Doctor Strange representing the mystical/non-scientific side of the Marvel universe, and finally Charles Xavier who is representing the Mutants. Black Panther was originally a member but decided to leave. In this film Doctor Strange founded the Illuminati of an alternate universe. We have Captain Carter representing the Avengers, Charles respecting X-Men and Mutants, Black Bolt representing the Inhumans, Mordo representing the mystical/non-scientific community, Maria Rambeau as Captain America representing the galactic Superhero community maybe, and finally Reed Richards representing science-based superhero community. We don't see Iron Man in this film but many have theorised that he built the Ultron Bot we see in this film. It's also pretty clear that the Snap never happened in this universe as Thanos was defeated on Titan never making it to Earth. We can also assume that Ultron never came to power in this universe as well with Tony's project to create an army of robots to protect humanity being successful which is why we see Ultron bots in this film. So for the most part it seems that Earth-838 is a pretty solid universe unlike Wanda showed up. Overall I did really enjoy this film but I do wish that the film was full on Sam Rami. It felt two films a Rami film and an MCU movie the two styles don't really clash all that well. Would've loved if the Rami feel and style was there throughout the film instead of slices. But yeah I really enjoyed it even though the script could've been so much better.

Looking forward to more Mister Doctor!
