RIP Steve.

Ugh, James Marsden had so much potential as Cyclops. I hate they wasted what time they had with him and hate even more he chose problematic Bryan Singer's Superman over this.

People can criticize whatever they want about this movie but the soundtrack is absolutely amazing!

Let me start by saying that my favorite part comes at 57:27 … somebody got tongue tied 😂 I would give anything to have that kept in the edited YT video. Just teasing, please don’t drop me. So, back in X2, when you met Colossus, you see Wolverine and him team up for the attack called the “Fastball special”. In the comics, Wolverine is a lot shorter and it’s easier for him to be thrown. Wolverine vs Juggernaut is an epic fight with their original sizes. Wolverine is dwarfed by him but his fearless attitude in a fight makes up for his size. When the X-Men are all suited up, Hank aka Beast, has an older uniform on. He was an original team member at the start. I think that you got so excited when Magneto was able to slightly move the piece meant that it’s not the end of the story. As for Charles, it means he’s not leaving us for good. I have more but I want to end with mentioning the name of an executive producer for the movie. Kevin Feige. Two years later he will be on the staff of Iron Man and that got the ball rolling. I was so thrilled to see his name. I’m thrilled to hear you say you need to see more movies. I cannot wait! Take care, Addie!! Tell Ollie I said HI!

This was really fun. I've always liked this movie.

it reminds me of Terminator a little with all the timlines introduced in the later films. But funny enough Terminator seems more straight forward than the X-Men ones.

Damn Dark Phoenix was snapping people left and right before Thanos!

“These timelines are so confusing.”

Super happy you liked this! It's not well loved as it's very different from the source material, but the one thing they did show right.... is Jean's power. It's very different in the comics, but she is nigh all powerful. In the comics, Jean taps into a "force" or energy called the Phoenix Force. The Phoenix is basically the personification of all psionic energy in the Universe. So yeah she has all that power, controlling things with her mind. Energy blasts, straight up vaporizing people, super strong mind control, The Phoenix is very strong, rivaled by a few other energy forces. So the next movie is X-Men Origins Wolverine. Ooh boy 😅 Then First Class is after that. The timeline gets VERY out of place and confusing after this movie. I will say the things to ignore in thr future to make it somewhat sensible lol but yeah just be ready for some inconsistencies and out of place events. But still I hope you enjoy the next movie somewhat, as there are some cool things in there. See you then!

I'm not sure about the twin brother thing. More I think I've heard that he simply makes himself appear to everyone else as Charles, even if in reality he does look different.

100% I feel that so many people will be diving into the Animated Series for the first time before X-Men 97 comes out. The DC stuff like Batman Animated Series, Superman Animated Series, Batman Beyond, etc. These have aged much better but I still adore the X-Men Animated Series same with the 1990s Iron Man, Hulk, and Spider-Man shows. Blew my mind when Spider-Man crossed over with the 1990s X-Men had no idea X-Men was apart of the greater Marvel universe as I was so used to the movies being so disconnected.

Isaac

“Well, that’s just lazy writing.” 😜😆 I always love to see others praise X-Men: The Animated Series from the 90’s. My inner teenager gets all fan girly. It would be awesome if Addie could watch the first 2 episodes of season 1 for a little reference that pops up in an upcoming MCU movie. The animated series from the 90’s is not a “have to watch” Marvel installment, but it is fun, and really lets you get to know the characters. All be it sometimes in very cheesy ways, it was a Saturday morning cartoon that aired originally in the early 90’s. However, they are continuing it on Disney+ here soon with the new animated series X-Men 97’ no better reason to watch a few episodes of the original X-Men animated series to be ready for the new show when it drops.

I'm so happy you enjoyed this film when so many X-Men fans pretty much hated X-Men: The Last Stand as it wasn't a good adaptation of the comic or the amazing X-Men 1990s animated series story arc. Have noticed that people who haven't read the X-Men comics like this film while fans of the comics had a more negative reaction to the film for a few reasons. The Dark Phoenix Saga: The Last Stand was inspired heavily by the amazing Dark Phoenix Saga. In the comics this Saga was a massive event that had a much longer build up throughout the comic run being hinted at in past comics. Same goes with the 1990s animated series which had featured an amazing story arc of around 5 episodes focused on their adaptation of The Phoenix saga an event hinted at in past episodes as well. the 90s cartoon adaptation is amazing and is even regarded as the better version by alot of people similar to how a lot of people love the Animated Batman Dark Knight Returns movies over the comic going back and forth on which they prefer as both are amazing. While for the movies we really only got a little nod at the end of X2 of Jean with yellow eyes and her death along with the end credit scene of a phoenix in the water. Just doesn't really feel like the epic saga we saw in the comics or Animated Series. For me the Phoenix Saga is Infinity War level of amazing but we have to remember this was a time when Superhero movies were still pretty new so unlike the MCU they didn't really plan on long build up movies set up in phases so I can't be to hard on this movie. Robot Head: That massive robot head in the training room is the head of a Sentinel massive mutant-hunting robots with a very Art deco rendition of a human face surrounded by a helmet. They tend to have a goldish skin tone on the "face" and red and purple which looks like armour very retro in design but there's been a good amount of updated renditions which still keep that awesome style. Cyclops: Also Cyclops was done so dirty in this series he's the team leader in the comic's and here they kill him off in the third film. This was 100% studio displeasure with his actor, James Marsden. When disgraced director Bryan Singer jumped ship to helm Superman Returns, Marsden came along to portray Clark Kent's romantic rival, Richard White. Since both productions were shooting at the same time, 20th Century Fox decided to kill him off with only ten minutes of screen time to punish him for leaving the film. End credit: Ah yeah so.... Idk if this is a spoiler but it's never explained in the films. Pretty much Charles transferred his consciousness into a coma patient who just happened to be his identical twin brother. Just seems like lazy writing to me. Next Movies: I think you'll love X-Men First Class and Days of Future Past there the most character heavily X-Men movies. Days of Future Past and First Class are two of my favourites mainline X-Men movies at number 1 and 2. You just have to get through X-Men Origins: Wolverine first which has it's moments. X-Men movies go up and down in quality so often but First Class, The Wolverine, Days of Future Past, Deadpool 1, Logan, and Deadpool 2 are all great films.

Isaac

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). My favorite scene in the movie will always be when Magneto drags the Golden Gate Bridge. I was fascinated with that scene when I was young and now as an adult. BTW, Brett Ratner (director of the Rush Hour trilogy) did this movie because Bryan Singer did Superman Returns (2006), definitely react to that movie as well as you progress into Christopher Reeve's Superman movies, although Superman/Clark Kent is now played by Brandon Routh.
