VENOM - Full Length Reaction!

Patreon Exclusive! Here's the full length reaction to Venom! While I was terrified of Venom at the beginning, he turned out to be a really fun character :) I'll also watch Venom: Let There Be Carnage and post it here on Patreon before getting to Spider-Man: No Way Home. Enjoy!

VENOM - Full Length Reaction!

You know what?, this was a good movie, couple tweaks and it could be really good. Great performance from Tom Hardy really sold it as Eddie Brock.

Steve

I would love your thoughts on coming of age movies for The next pole personally for me my personal favorites have always been Almost Famous, Riding in cars with boys, Dazed and Confused and The perks of being a wallflower and If you’re looking for a great Tom hardy movie I highly suggest The Revenant One of his best.

Eric

This was fun, really enjoyed watching Venom more this time for than I did the first time. Looking forward to Venom 2, I had a lot of fun watching that the first time in theaters. I'm not gonna lie I'm having second thoughts about whether its best to watch it before No Way Home. The post credit scene will give away sort of a major plot point that happens halfway into No Way Home. Either way, do what you think is best. Looking forward to your next vid.

Addie, DO NOT SKIP VENOM 2. Why do subscribers always discourage the content creator from watching certain movies. Venom 2 does NOT spoil No Way Home.

Mr. Reggie

This is actually an excellent point and I hadn’t thought about it that way. The “reason” to watch VENOM 2 before NO WAY HOME is not nearly good enough to essentially spoil a major plot point. I petition for Addie not to watch VENOM 2 before NO WAY HOME.

Chip MC

Michelle Williams killed it in Blue Valentine and Manchester by the Sea. Those two movies were each a punch to the gut, but in a good way.

Luis Fernandez

Lorenzo, (trying no to spoil) Far From Home shows the main issue at the start of No Way Home but part way though the movie something happens that complicates things. The post credit scene of Venom 2 visually reveals what happens part way through No Way Home. It's like watching Ant-Man and The Wasp before Infinity War because chronologically the main story happens first, but the post credit scene is a spoiler.

I love the music in this movie so much, same composer as Mandalorian, Boba Fett, Black Panther, Creed, and my personal favorite, Tenet! Also, you mentioned you haven't seen Tom Hardy in much else, and I gotta say that you ABSOLUTELY NEED to watch Mad Max Fury Road! One of the best action films ever made! Thanks for the awesome reaction, love this movie, so fun!

DaftBasterd

Your reaction to Venom did not disappoint 😁 One of the things I like about this movie is the fact that Eddie keeps his shirt on the whole movie, even when he is sleeping. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely enjoy an obligatory gratuitous shirtless scene as much as the next person. I have seen Tom Hardy completely full frontal naked in movies and he is more than fit for a shirtless scene. I admire that they took a different approach, it seemed more realistic in some ways. Eddie was a sweaty dirty mess almost the entire movie, and Tom’s charisma & talent pulled it off so well, Eddie’s muscled up bare chest wasn’t necessary to love his character. To be fair, I guess we did a couple of muscled up bare chests. Venom & Riot were ripped 💪 but do cgi otherworldly bodies count 🧐🤔

Really, so I don't understand No Way Home since I haven't seen Venom 2?

The Dingo

That doesn't make sense, as Venom 2 explains things you won't understand otherwise. It shows nothing that Addie doesn't already know from watching Far From Home.

Lorenzo Baxter

I still can't tell if this is a bad movie or a good movie.

Steve

I like the difference and improvement of Venom compared to his first introduction in SM3. Especially the casting. I loved the banter between Eddie and Venom all through the movie. Your initial reactions to hearing him was awesome!! Riot is the villain I wish we got from another character. He was kinda brutal compared to what I was hoping for. Saving the best for last, tell Ollie it was nice to see him!! Just as it’s always great to see you. Take care, Addie!!

Billy Dancel

I haven't seen Venom 2 but I can't see how it is even needed to be watched. The Venom 1 movie was bad with a capital B.

The Dingo

Speaking of Michelle Williams, who plays Anne Weying in this movie, and Charity Barnum in The Greatest Showman (2017), I suggest All the Money in the World (2017), also starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Ridley Scott.

Alex Tan

Yeah I agree with that. Can't say why lol but it would work really well

So the sole survivor of the crashed space ship is Astronaut John Jonah Jameson lll the son of J. Jonah Jameson the editor of New York's Daily Bugle. We only get the name "Jameson" but looking at the comic's he was a Colonel and one of the youngest applicants to ever be accepted into NASA's astronaut program. We actually saw John Jonah Jameson lll as well in Spider-Man 2 where MJ asked to marry him but of course different universes Venom has no connection to the Sam Rami Spider-Man movies as those films have there own take on Venom. This seems to be heavily inspired by Venoms introduction in the Spider-Man Animated Series from the 1990s that introduced Venom by a NASA Space Ship being saved by Spider-Man while making it's way back to Earth. Big difference being Spider-Man was the first host and then Eddie which followed the comics of Venom being pulled off Peter by the Church Bell sound landing on Eddie who was down below in the church. Earth-616 Venom (Main Comic Universe) So the biggest problem fans of the comics had with this film and something alot of people have pointed out is the lack of Spider-Man and how Venom himself is heavily linked to Spider-Man's abilities in the comics. In the mainline Earth-616 comic's Peter found the symbiote on Battleworld in the Secret War event comics 1984/1985 and unwittingly brought it back to Earth. At the time Peter and the viewers had no idea what it was only that it mimicked Peter's suit turning it black with a really cool large white Spider symbol on his chest and back and allowed him to use unlimited webbing. Peter Rocked the suit for a while until it was revealed to be a symbiote by Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. When Eddie Brock got the symbiote he also got the abilities of Spider-Man pretty similar to what happened in Spider-Man 3 church bell knocks Venom off Peter and it falls onto Eddie. This explains why Venom has the Spider Logo and can shoot webs even though Eddie himself was never bitten by the Spider. Of course in this film there is no Spider Symbol and instead of shooting webs Venom kind of stretch's out grabbing onto things like a web so they got away with it a little explaining that Eddie was venom first in this universe. What Spider-Verse is this? So it's unclear what universe the Venom films take place in but the movie Morbius from last year was confirmed to take place in the same universe as Venom. This film before it's released had so many Spider-Man Easter eggs in the trailer from a Daily Bugle newspaper with the same Logo design from the Sam Rami Spider-Man movies. Trailer also had an Oscorp building using the Oscorp logo from The Amazing Spider-Man movies. And the biggest Spider-Man reference being a poster of Toby Maguire's Spider-Man on a wall so it's all very strange and in the end these were all removed from the finial film so we can't say which universe these movies take place in. We can rule out the Toby Maguire, Sam Rami movies of course as we already saw Eddie and Venom but we've yet to see Venom or Eddie in the Amazing Spider-Man films so maybe Venom is set in the Amazing Spider-Man universe. Could be a whole new universe with their own Spider-Man so who knows I guess we'll have to wait for the future Sony Spider-Man projects like Madam Webb and Kraven the Hunter. Funny Venom I personally loved the silliness as long as the jokes and tone were handled well which they were in some areas. I also wish the film was Rated R like Deadpool and Logan a mix of silliness and mature content just like the Venom comic's and the character himself who is far from being a very serious character but is still deadly and scary to his enemies and the average person who sees him.

Isaac

I personally don't like Venom 2 as a pre-watch for No Way Home because it means you can't go into No Way Home blind. You will know something about it. So if you already know the main premise of No Way Home then watch it but if you are the rare case of someone who doesn't know at all what will happen in No Way Home, I like Venom 2 as a watch after it.

DMB

This is why you are AWESOME ADDIE!!! Thank you for squeezing Venom in! He is a fun character and his movies are fun to watch. Tom Hardy is a great actor and he has such good chemistry with Himself 😆 He is the voice of Venom. He would record Venom’s lines and play them in his ear during filming, so he was literally having conversations and acting with himself! This Venom is definitely a different take than the Eddie/Venom from Spider-Man 3 that Bully Maguire fought. It is my understanding that Venom has been an anti-hero in the comics as well as a straight up villain. Now I have something to watch this afternoon on my day off 😁

I paid real life money to see this in theatres only because it included in the credits, a 5 min clip from the then upcoming, greatest film of all time, Into the Spider-Verse.

aarswft

Can't wait for No Way Home & Multiverse of Madness, but I agree its a good choice watching Venom (and the sequal) before.

Rippan

Happy Thursday, Addie. I'm so glad that you've finally watched Venom (2018). My dad & I saw it in the theater back in 2018 and I enjoyed it. The cinematography was beautifully shot by Matthew Libatique on Cooke Anamorphic/i Special Flare (SF) lenses, which he also used on A Star Is Born (2018), which also came out on the same weekend as this movie. It gets better with the sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021).
