SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings! This movie was so much fun, and the end credit scenes made me so excited for what's to come! Enjoy!

What If is technically next in the MCU release order, but I'm going to hold off on that show for about a month because I'm watching a lot of shows right now! Don't worry, I'm still planning on watching that show in the future :)

SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS - Full Length Reaction!

I can't wait that long

DazzMetalStorm

Yeah I loved this movie. Wenwu definitely wasn't a great father but he did love his family. He's had a dark past and done some terrible things, but through love he was trying to be a better person. It just sucks he basically had a relapse and coped with his wife's loss by getting addicted to his power again. But it was all to save her. That definitely shows he doesn't just care about power. His past caught up to him, and its only human to resort to some unhealthy coping mechanisms, like blaming Shang Chi, when really, Wenwu was just in deep pain and needed to take it out on someone. A really great villain, up there with the best of the MCU, like Thanos and Killmonger.

…and speaking of Awkwafina, I suggest Ocean's Eight (2018, following Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen), Crazy Rich Asians (2018) (both Warner Bros. Pictures films), Jumanji: The Next Level (2019, after Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), WARNING⚠️: There are TWO SNAKE scenes in this one), and Renfield (2023, a horror/comedy for Halloween).

Alex Tan

…as well as Venom (2018) & Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) before Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Alex Tan

But she needs to watch Venom (2018) & Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) first.

Alex Tan

It didn't, once upon a time. Alas, the bigger a channel gets, the more vulnerable it becomes to the whims of broader audience sensibilities. This Patreon has definitely reached the 'too many cooks in the kitchen' stage. Unfortunately, seniority means nothing on Patreon. 😔

Byrd N. Hand

You're following a channel that literally watches that stuff

Andy K

Is it *that* big of a deal? I'm at the point where we need to start putting our foot down on lesser superhero movies and ersatz Di$ney-era Star Wars crap. Unless it involves the first 2 Christopher Reeve "Superman" movies or the 2 Tim Burton-directed "Batman" movies, I don't want to hear about them.

Byrd N. Hand

Especially considering the general consensus seems to be that the decline in quality pretty much starts around now ("No Way Home" is still only the almost universally embraced item post-"Endgame" -- and Sony apparently had more of a hand in making that than Marvel Studios did).

Byrd N. Hand

Of course it is! Why didn't I think of that?

Jim Schmitz

She won't understand the post credit scene for no way home

Andy K

It's explained in She Hulk

The Dingo

Not needed. Those are horrible movies.

The Dingo

That is also true. She's got shows that she's watching on her plate, so honestly checking out Marvel movies outside of the MCU could help. Venom 1 and 2 would answer some questions she'll have in the future.....

Lorenzo Baxter

Eh even so, it's good she sees the X-Men movies to see the Wandavision connection anyways, so it wouldn't hurt to take a break. That's the main thing I was going for.

Lorenzo Baxter

Absolutely, the Venom movies provide context for certain events involving the multiverse that are coming up in some of the MCU movies. If she skips them, it isn’t that big of a deal, but she will have questions about a couple of things if she doesn’t watch them. Watching the Venom movies have a similar benefit that watching the Fox X-Men movies have, they help with understanding the expanding multiverse concept even better. Personally I enjoyed the Venom movies. They aren’t top tier Marvel, but they are fun and have some great likable characters.

CheshireKat528

That was fun, thanks. I'm so glad you recognized Trevor. So many reactors have had no idea who he was while they watched the movie.

Thomas Yanez

I, too, loved the Asian-flavored inspiration for characters and plot. The only thing that I questioned was that Hulk-Banner appeared as Banner in a sling and not as we left him in Endgame. You're great at this, Addie.

Jim Schmitz

Before you watch the next spiderman make sure you watch Venom 1 and 2 with Tom Hardy

Andy K

I can’t wait to watch this reaction after work! This one is a very close 2nd for my favorite movie of Phase 4, Black Widow just barely beat it. I loved Shang-Chi and all the new characters that were introduced. Wenwu was an awesome antagonist. The visuals were beautiful. I am glad you watched this not long after Rush Hour, a couple of the people from Jackie Chan’s stunt team were fight and stunt choreographers for Shang-Chi. The bus fight especially was inspired by Jackie’s style of using every day settings and objects incorporated into the fight. Looking forward to seeing more is Shang-Chi and his friends in the MCU.

CheshireKat528

Loved this movie Chinese culture is sooo beautiful!

Jayson Phillips

No she should not watch any Venom movie. They aren't part of the MCU and are horrible to boot.

The Dingo

She's already watched the shows (WandaVision, Falcon/Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye). The only shows she hasn't seen are What If?, Ms Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk. In fact, she hasn't seen a Marvel movie since before Christmas when she saw Black Widow. She's fine to watch the movies :)

The Dingo

Marvel martial arts is next level!! Shang-Chi used his mother’s technique to face his father and then used his father’s technique/attack to defeat The Dweller in the Darkness (aka your Evil Dragon) The Great Protector is also known as Fin Fang Foom. When their parents first met/fought, there was also a color change in the rings just like between Shang-Chi and his father. This movie instantly made it’s way into my top 5. Great start to the week! Take care, Addie!!

Billy Dancel

I believe the dad aka da real Mandarin is one of the better villains in the MCU. Sure, he's a bit extreme but you can really feel for him.

Rippan

...and also Venom (2018) & Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) before No Way Home.

Alex Tan

She’s that much closer to Spider-Man no way home

Joseph salazar

I love Shang Chi, such a culturally artistic movie. As far as "What if" As long as you watch What if before Spiderman and Dr Strange, just to add a bit more understanding of the multiverse as those movies play into it. Especially Dr Strange.

LightsCameraJake

That's right! Totally forgot about that one. That would be right before "Black Panther Wakanda" if she continues to go in order of the movies.

Randee Carreno

I love this one. I personally think phase 4 release order isn't as important as the others

Rich

Speaking of Tony Leung, I suggest Red Cliff: Part 1 (2008) & Red Cliff: Part 2 (2009).

Alex Tan

Don’t forget Love and Thunder

CheshireKat528

"Speed" would definitely make for a good summertime movie reaction... as would "Predator," "National Lampoon's Vacation" (given that she watched "Christmas Vacation" around the holidays), "American Graffiti," "Dazed and Confused," "The Goonies," "The Sandlot," "Stand by Me" "Top Secret!," and "Independence Day" and/or "Jaws" for around the 4th of July (the latter will do for just general summertime, too, if not said holiday).

Byrd N. Hand

Happy Monday, Addie! 😊 When this movie first came out I was hesitant to watch it. Mainly because I knew nothing about the character of Shang-Chi. But after watching it I ended up really enjoying it. We got to meet some more new characters, and saw some familiar characters as well. Loved seeing Ben Kingsley's character Trevor Slattery from "Iron Man 3" again, Tim Roth's character the Abomination from "The Incredible Hulk", Wong, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, and Bruce Banner. Since you're holding off on "What If" until next month "The Eternals" is the next MCU movie. That, "Spider-Man: No Way Home", "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", and "Black Panther Wakanda Forever" are the remaining movies for Phase 4. The rest are the shows. Have a great day today! 😊

Randee Carreno

Super excited for this reaction! As far as the MCU, honestly I think you should hit pause on it for now, instead of watching the movies, as there is some context better understood with the shows beforehand. Maybe you could just kind of replace the MCU movies with the X-Men movies, as those are still important to get through, then you can not add to the workload of shows you're working through.

Lorenzo Baxter

Happy Monday, Addie. As an Asian-American, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) is my favorite MCU movie, alongside The Incredible Hulk (2008). I really enjoyed seeing it in IMAX 1.90:1 with my girlfriend. My favorite scene is the bus fight because it reminded me of Speed (1994), please react to that movie. And Morris is a mythological Chinese being known as a hùndùn.
