STAR TREK BEYOND - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

Are you still planning on watching Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan? it's been a year and a half since you said you were going to watch it soon.

Richard Higgs

Please follow this up with Star Trek ll: Wrath of Khan!

David Crabtree

I feel Beyond is the most classic Trek of all the JJ Abrams universe movies.

Chrissonator

Just a random question, as you seem to be big fan of Andy Serkis (Gollum etc.. and who isn't) have you been looking into watching the "new" Planet of the Apes trilogy with him as Caesar? In my opinion, its the second best trilogy after LOTR

When Kirk toasts "to absent friends" and it frames on Anton, it always breaks my heart. Poor Anton, R.I.P. sweet Anton

Joseph Mendoza

Plans for a fourth Kelvin timeline (as the reboots are known) movie have existed since Beyond was released, but there have been a number of things working against it - actor availability (e.g. Zoe Saldana being tied up with the MCU and the Avatar sequels), budget (as Beyond wasn't as successful as Star Trek or Into Darkness), and the seemingly never-ending changes at Paramount. A fourth movie isn't dead yet though - there's still talk of making it, and the cast all say they'd still be happy to do it - just a case of Paramount getting there act together (though they recently lost the most recent director linked to it, so...)

Your intro is precise for a fan like yourself. If it weren't for these movies you may not have given STAR TREK a second thought. You enjoyed them and that's what matters. It's not required to have seen every movie and series to be a fan. I'm showing my age but I grew up with the original series. Just lucky to be of an older generation. Watching and enjoying these new movies too. I loved seeing the photo of the original STAR TREK crew in this movie. Along with the tribute to both Spock's character and actor. Cherished and revered by all fans. Anton Yelchin, our Pavel Chekov... gone far far too soon.

Billy Dancel

There was some interesting drama behind the scenes when they were making the movie. They ended up changing the script last minute because there were insistent fan rumors that the actors for Bones and Spock didn't get along, and complaints that Spock and Kirks relationship was overshadowing the rest of the crew. So you may notice this film has a bit of an odd couple vibe with Bones and Spock being paired up and the other cast getting some more story focus.

You gotta watch Dark Matter too!

Love you Addie, and loved getting to rewatch my favourite Star Trek movie with me. Was a little sad you missed the credits in loving memory to leonard nimoy and anton yelchin. I do think that all wrecked us a bit in the threatre.

Yeah! This is my second-favorite Star Trek movie, after Wrath Of Khan

I feel like these movies are a great primer for the original movies and series. I'll certainly tune in if you watch those. I agree with you Addie about the villain's story not being fleshed out enough. But I did like it. There's a really great story to be told about humanity being stronger through conflict. Accelerationism as a path to progress. It's a good villain motive. But Krull barely explained it, and was also motived by simple revenge and madness. Could've been better.

Beyond! and hello.

Brian Leonard

Be sure and watch the original episode "Space Seed", so you'll know what Khan wants "Wrath" for!

Sean Novack

I liked this movie, though I know a lot consider it the weakest of the three reboots. I feel like they were finally hitting their stride here. Also, I can't wait for you to get to the OG cast with Wrath of Khan! Maaaybe you should watch the Original Series episode "Space Seed" for a bit more context, but I don't feel it's required. Maybe in your spare time if you do.

Tony Sanson

And speaking of Justin Lin, I also suggest The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011, EXTENDED), Fast & Furious 6 (2013, EXTENDED), and F9: The Fast Saga (2021, DIRECTOR'S CUT), after watching The Fast and the Furious (2001) & 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) before TD and Furious 7 (2015, EXTENDED) & The Fate of the Furious (2017, DIRECTOR'S CUT), in between F&F 6 & 9.

Happy Monday, Addie! 😊 This is the only one of the reboot movies that I haven't seen yet. So, this will be a first time watch for me as well. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Happy Monday, Addie. I've never seen Star Trek Beyond (2016), but I plan on watching it soon. RIP to both Leonard Nimoy (Spock Prime) and Anton Yelchin (Pavel Chekov). Live long and prosper, Addie. 🖖🖖
