I wish I was American.

I wish I was American.

I've made this mental mistake, both as a cashier and as a customer. It's pretty common. I've found something that can help is to literally tell the cashier how much money you are giving them. "Here is 100." If they want to count it, they'll do it right there, before proceeding with the rest of the transaction. Less chance of getting screwed over when a dishonest person is counting on some activity in between the customer paying and the customer receiving a receipt disrupting the customer's thought process. If you think Americans have it good, if you go to Japan, the customer is god. You don't thank the cashier; they thank you. Also, you definitely don't have to be gay to be a total badass when someone really deserves it. Vicious burns are basically our national sport, at least here in Boston. No fucks given. "How about you pass me over to somebody who knows what the hell they're talking about." "Your tiles are expensive? Your mother must be very proud." "How much do they pay you to stand here being useless?"

Dear Rana, I feel you and I'm very sorry about your experiences! That's definitely not the way how to treat a customer! I can feel you though, because I'm also the kind of a person who wants to live in harmony with other people and avoid conflicts. But indeed sometimes you have to stand up for your rights in order not to get ripped off, only because the other person thinks you are too weak or too dumb to fight for your right! And I can assure you, not only the american, but even more the typical german customer would have kicked ass this dumb bitch of a cashier... You are such a good hearted and lovely person, you really don't deserve this kind of treatment! If it's possible in any way, I really want to encourage you to feel more self confident and act like this, because you are a wonderful person; that's why I'm proud to support you:-) ❤

Being an American who works in tech support, I can tell you that not only is the customer not always right, I take great pleasure in letting them know. Not rudely, but in a more educational sense to help them out in future situations lol. On this one, you were right; and quite frankly, the moron behind the counter was doing nothing to address the situation, and more worried about nursing her wounded pride. Someone being that much of an asshat would be better off working a different job, or going through some extension training. Sorry you ran into that. Gotta say that we'd love to have you here though. If you need, I would be happy to send a video message for you to play to the bitch.
