It’s time for another work in progress Wednesday! I have to say I had lots of fun with this month’s pin!

I started out by sketching a few rabbits and traced over the body and ears of the first one and the head and ears of the second as I couldn’t pick a favourite:

After the initial trace I had a first outline, and then created the upwards ears version too so I could compare properly:

I started to play around with them, initially by looking at them as a couple - however eventually I realised it wouldn’t fit in so well with the Familiar theme as well so I went with the single rabbit.

I played around with them wearing the hat, but realised the rabbit really had to be coming out of the inside!

I found that as I added more elements in the design that the rabbit with the tall ears was more compelling (and also they kind of reminded me of horns which I really liked!)

I was really into the idea of the autumnal theme so carried on developing it. Although I like to design with purples and pinks a lot I realised that after the ruby version of the Cat Familiar almost won the month before I had to do some more experimentation with that colour combo:

After putting the Rabbit in context with the other familiars I realised the red really was much more compelling, so decided to put the leaves or mushroom option to the vote instead:
