Tfw your love life is ruined by an invisible swirly

I played Ocarina of Time when I was a kid and its one of my favorite games of all time. But you said which game is "better". Elden Ring would not exist as it does without OoT. For example, OoT invented targetting enemies in a 3d environment. I am not saying someone else might not have come up with the same or similar solution, but I don't think you can really understate the impact OoT has had on every game that has come out since then.

Groovydude

As a gay regarding the Dragon Age conversation, that game was part of my awakening process xD so, yeah 100% agreed with Dratnos' take here

Hyugaftw

All-time, Dorki has it right with WC3. No game is more influential (that is also extraordinarily high quality in its own right) in my opinion. For games released in the last ten years, Songs of Syx is such a remarkable triumph in an industry flooded with over-designed and subsequently over-budgeted titles. The “AAA” market has long been saturated with uninteresting, derivative slop that costs hundreds of millions just for the privilege of having, “it was alright I suppose” said of it. This is, I think, why you and others have taken such special notice of Elden Ring. However, it is my earnest opinion that games from independent developers have never been better, with Songs of Syx being the high watermark.

I think if you're talking about best games of all time as far as how influential they were on the industry, Ocarina of Time or Halo: CE are definitely up there (granted, you could say the same about games like DOOM revolutionizing the FPS genre similarly to how Halo did, or rather, Halo doing it how DOOM did.) Personally, Twilight Princess is up there as one of my favorite games ever. One of the only games I've played where I felt genuinely sad that I'd finished it because it meant the journey was over.

Bought Poddy-treon instead of Brutosaur.

David Brokaw

Out of the three games mentioned, I'd say Ocarina of Time. Personally, it's either Baldur's Gate 3 (or 2) and Chrono Trigger

Martin Jetté

I also liked FFXIII. I stand with you, Max 😤

KJ

Another JRPG i feel like Max would like for the combat would be the FF7 remakes

LizboySC

So.. the take away I got from this episode is The Bench is just wowhead in podcast form. Got it.

Tettles also said 'brd is completely fine, no changes needed', after talking about 'we blind progged it with a group of 630s'. Guy is a dumb take machine.

For me the key thing comes down to how much you are punished for failing a key rather than how much you are rewarded. Okay so you don't time the 10, whatever, it's still a vault slot, but instead of 12 frags you get 5... Really? If it was 10 for failing, 12 for timing, that sounds much fairer to me, whatever we failed, it's still some frags and a vault slot.

Andrew

I'm kind of surprised WoW didn't get a mention for best game

Dick Ward

Make the great vault a warband based discount system. If you already have one character with 3 m+ vault slots, then instead of needing 1/4/8 for the rewards it's just 1/2/4

Gronk

Playing Elden Ring the first time reminded me of the feeling I had playing Ocarina of Time as a kid. Both are in my top 2 games of all time, Elden Ring probably wins though

Faralia

“One wipe should brick your key” is an incredibly MDI-brained take but I get where he was coming from with the idea that you technically have infinite tries to get it perfect
