Mon/Fri: Whoops!
Added 2020-06-23 03:39:24 +0000 UTCYeah I forgot to be better about doing these.
There's a lot of things I've been taught by hockey coaches over the years, a lot of it not worth remembering. Still, one specific phrase sticks in my mind, even if I can't remember which particular coach said it: "excuses are not explanations, but explanations are not excuses." Mon/Fri was meant to be my way of being accountable to a Patreon and I fell asleep at the switch there.
It's because I was in therapy. That's the explanation. Monday became therapy day, and it became the thing I focused on that day. So now that's done and I realize, "shit, I used to do something else on this day, something I've forgotten to do in a while!"
So, laying it down here: the script for the next Cinematic Quarantine is underway, and it's on the absolutely insane Sonny Chiba-starring martial arts/crime thriller grindhouse spectacular, The Street Fighter. If you want to know how intense this movie is, it's the first ever film to cut to an x-ray of a broken skull after a dude gets punched in the head, so you absolutely know that motherfucker is dead.
Speaking of people getting punched in the head, I have an extremely strong idea for Narratives of Disaster 3, which is a demonstration of how a disaster can sometimes be utterly spectacular, yet localized only to one person; everyone else looking on is happy and cheering. In this case, it's the story of a MAGAchud MMA fighter who slobbered on his trash talk, got eyerolled at by ring girls, and then got beat half to death in just under 15 minutes before a referee saved his life by declaring him the loser. And then from there, shit gets really embarrassing for him. Stay tuned.

Both of those sound kind of fantastic. (Also, yay for therapy!)
