2021-03-06 19:39:35 +0000 UTCthere's absolutely no doubt in the mind of any hair-brained speculator that the future is with state and corporate sponsored "digital currencies" that enable easy tax enforcement. if a nation or corporation is sufficiently stupid and short-sighted, they will also program in backdoor for monetary policy adjustment. when has a security system or encryption technique ever been totally immune to exploration by clever hackers or 5 year olds in the case of the 5 year old who figured how to bypass xbox parental restrictions by entering space characters after wrong passwords? It's not even unheard of for brilliant engineers at companies like Dropbox to forget to disable a checkbox that allows anyone to log into any Dropbox account without a password. it's possible for a more efficient and secure evolution of bitcoin to emerge but banning it would be as trivial as making it illegal to transact in so that only the people who visit drug markets today would have the risk tolerance to use it.
