December 2020 Monthly Letter

Well my loyal 50-Cent Army, it’s been a wild couple of months! Between the three shows, especially with the election coverage on America Uncovered, I barely have had a moment to sit down and rest. But you all are very important to me, so I’ve finally carved out some time to write to you. Apologize for the delay. Some big things are on the horizon though!

First of all, the big one—we’re finally getting new graphics for China Uncensored and China Unscripted! We’re working with the same amazing team that created the graphics for America Uncovered, so I know they’ll turn out great. This has been a long time coming and is only possible because of your generous support.

Another piece of good news—if all goes according to plan, next week I’ll be interviewing an Australian Senator about China’s political warfare with Australia. And let me tell you, scheduling a Skype interview with a 16 hour time difference isn’t easy!

In other news, if you’ve seen the YouTube Blog, it looks like another major wave of censorship is coming to the platform. They write, “Since September, we've terminated over 8000 channels and thousands of harmful and misleading elections-related videos for violating our existing policies.”

We’re always very dedicated to making sure our show is 100% factually accurate and nonpartisan. We cover the news that’s happening. And while YouTube says its policies won’t apply to news coverage, our experience on China Uncensored doesn’t give me much hope. The way YouTube demonetized, age-restricted, or even removed our videos about the coronavirus and the Hong Kong protests has made me very concerned about what will get caught up in this newest wave of censorship.

As always, your support gives us the freedom to continue to cover China in the way we feel is most important, not the way YouTube algorithms would prefer. We’re looking into our options should YouTube actually shutdown China Uncensored for any reason. Your help liking and sharing our episodes is a big way you can help us preserve the show. But rest assured, our work will continue no matter what. I’m proud to have the 50-Cent Army with me through this journey.

And finally, I just want you all to know that I’ve been very good about not eating too many McRibs. Will of steel.
