2020-04-18 12:08:24 +0000 UTCThanks for the suggestion. I definitely should forward this to my mayor because he has capitulated to the CCP on various occasions already. Most recently, he defended his order for the city to raise and salute the CCP flag in celebration of their 70 year long oppression. Obviously the residents weren't pleased, and called on the city councillors to vote ending any foreign national flag to be raised again. The vote didn't pass because it was backed by other China leaning councillors (and the China consul-general in the neighbouring city was present as well). Our mayor tried to justify that raising flags "built bridges" and that he was proud to have Huawei's Canadian HQ in the city employing 700+ people (so called "new Canadians" who arrive in Canada as skilled workers from China, get a citizenship while working for huawei and leaving to return to China when it becomes convenient or stays in Canada and remains disconnected from the rest of society, serving as potential spies and daikau who cleared out our shelves of medical supplies). Before the CCP-virus outbreak, I was trying to persuade the mayor to start raising the Glory-to-Hong-Kong, Revolution-of-our-Times flag, as well as Taiwan's flags; but I certainly have more sway now.
