Why China Fears Japanβs Military
Added 2017-10-11 18:57:42 +0000 UTCJapan is restricted to having a military only for self defense. But even Japan's self-defense force is a powerful opponent for China. Now, Japan wants to change its laws and expand...and let's just say the CCP is being a lot more conciliatory than normal.

That Japan has a military equal to China's is quite a stretch. In just about every category in personnel and equipment, be it the army, navy or air force, China has at least twice the amount as Japan. Of course, Japan is a group of islands which are easier to defend with a smaller force, so Japan doesn't have the need for a bigger one. Getting nuclear weapons would be very difficult for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The Japanese people are understandably very paranoid about suffering another atomic attack. This is why Trump's call for Japan to have nuclear weapons reinforced the Japanese people's opinion of Trump as an ignorant loose cannon. China is beginning to be viewed, not just in Japan, as a more stable country, and international influence, than the USA under Trump.
2017-10-13 23:21:58 +0000 UTCJapan should totally get a real military. Both to for their own interest but also for the US. you are talking about a strong ally with one of the strongest economies in the world sitting at the door step of the the most unstable dictator armed with nuclear weapons.
