#277 - Fretboard Crossing Sweep Workout

My friends, you voted for a sweep picking workout with a special focus on crossing the entire fretboard, by connecting different shapes in a practical context! So I came up with 8 measures of sweeping awesomeness that make for a great daily workout :)

Here are your practice files for this week (play-along video, tabs, guitar pro file, backing tracks): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1w__FYAgTcTJm_n5iXiw64ohP-88xON09?usp=sharing

You will have to roll your middle finger for the tricky major shape, you will play all kinds of different arpeggios you will need a lot (major, minor, diminished) and I'm really looking forward to checking out your progress videos in the VIP group :)

By the way, here's a Dropbox folder in case Google Drive doesn't work for you: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/nbnq9jvnvs5b7npzg0pew/h?dl=0&rlkey=goggbaxb21ej462n5l4gjpd79

drop e on an 8 string here \m/

I also have a 7 and I play in drop A so that's a super easy way to add in the 7 string just to help stretch

You should be fine.

I've got a 7 string guitar, I know a lot of these workouts are portrayed on a 6 string. How would/do y'all translate that over? Do you just ignore the low string and practice with 6 strings? I love these workouts. But I'm new to playing guitar and I'm starting with a 7 string. Unfortunately it seems a lot of practice tabs across the board are 6 string though and I really don't want to be unmotivated to play. The lack of stuff I can find for 7 string guitar is unfortunately doing just that. Please help!

This lesson is just so hard. Even the 20bpm version is a challenge to me due to pinky stretches and slides. This will be a nice one to crack (if I ever do).

When going upwards, I always mute with my index finger. You gotta move it along, even if there is no note to fret and keep it on the higher strings to prevent any ringing.

Thanks for this! Been working on it and was wondering what muting techniques do you use for muting the sweeps? I mostly palm mute which works on the down sweep but still figuring out a way to mute on the up sweep.

"Happy sweeping..." What am I, the janitor?!? I already finished my chores mom!

Love this! Bernth, I would love to see in these arpeggio lessons at the start of each shape you could put a letter for what key the shape is in up top. Then as we are memorizing these shapes we could also be memorizing the keys that they are in at the same time. Thank you for all that you do!

or you can get the guitar pro app to your phone if you don't prefer to work on this with a computer

This free/shareware program can also open Guitar Pro files: https://sourceforge.net/projects/tuxguitar/

I think you're talking about the GP5 file. GP5 is intended for guitar pro. If you download it to a computer you can throw it into guitar pro. Its a super helpful tool. It does cost money though.

The file is unsupported on my Google drive app, the workout one, the videos and audios work just fine, need help!!

loved this one!!
