#275 - Neoclassical Workout CHALLENGE

My friends, you voted for a neoclassical workout with a big focus on alternate picking and sweeping - so I'm happy to present one of my favorite workout challenges on the platform so far!

Get your practice files for this lesson here (play-along video, tabs, guitar pro, backing tracks): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1f0R-4ivZ64KxxKwwLTHfifKxqS6O80Y8?usp=sharing

This challenge is especially cool because it's based on pedal tone licks and interesting arpeggios phrasing ideas. See me on tour this year if you want to learn things like this in person: Get tickets for my 'Waterworks Tour 2023' here: https://bit.ly/3Ing8rl

By the way, here's a Dropbox link in case Google Drive doesn't work for you: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/ciorqy6nkx7lir5xs8drq/h?dl=0&rlkey=1lu3hxqerlurnaaorfc0ghg2a

#275 - Neoclassical Workout CHALLENGE

I just wanted to say that if you really do apply yourself to practicing and not just noodling like Bernth has said before…you will achieve level 10 and beyond easily after some hard work. I started out on this 8 months ago as a guitarist who plateaued, trying to achieve the next level. I can tell you now I play level 10 to warm up and achieve it each time first try when 8 months ago I could barely do level 7. I can play this is at 140BPM now and I can sweep across the fretboard consistently when 1 year ago I could not sweep at all. I would never have known my open hand picking was holding me back or my tightness in my wrist. Learning to practice correctly is the best statement this man has said. Thanks, Bernth. You are worth the money. I will keep moving forward because of your lessons.

Chris

Just hit 130bpm. Love progress. Thanks!!

Chris

Update: I started doing what I’ve been putting off from your advice and have switched to a closed hand style of playing. It took 2 hours of practice and I can now play level 9 consistently and level 10 after two weeks of trying with open hand picking. I’ve played open hand for years so it does feel odd to played closed but the articulation of each note with less effort sounds a lot better. I will continue this journey and thank you. I would’ve never figured that out on my own. Even sweeping is cleaner. Closed hand picking from now on.

Chris

9 and 10 are next level lol. Practicing and getting better but sheeeesh 👌

Hi guys! Love the content, Bernth you're awesome! First time speaking here ) Need some help from more experienced people figuring out what I am playing here. Pedal note stuff is an Am as the following first sweeping arpeggios, but I am struggling to be sure what is coming next. My best clue is that's Em diminished and C#m diminished, am I right? I appreciate any feedback, thx!

Great workout. Been looking for something like this to improve my pedal note licks. The added arpeggio sequence at the end is really tasty.

Bro thank you so much for this course. I started like a month back right? And I was practicing maybe 3 hours a day on yousiscian which helped a lot for chords but then I found your patreon and even though a lot of stuff was out of my skill level I kept doing the warm ups and picking exercise’s. I felt like I would never fucking get better then all of a sudden I was trying to play “seek and destroy” by Metallica and I swear to fucking god it didn’t even feel like I was using my own hand. Like I was actually playing a song. So then feeling good about that I tried “sweet child o mine and now I can do the intro which is something I honestly didn’t think I’d ever be able to do. Thank you so much. I feel like I got this huge motivational push to keep going with this.
