#272 - Arpeggio Picking Workout CHALLENGE

My friends, it's time to work on our technique skills once again! I just returned from a 2-week work vacation, and I created this workout challenge for my routine - so I want to share it with you :)

Here are your files for this workout challenge (play-along video, tabs, guitar pro, backing tracks): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17vSTrgltQXXVacoMKsvrG3WXlLHtodLn?usp=sharing

This is not only a great picking routine, it's also quite challenging for your fretting hand - keep an eye on your pinky and try to keep it as close to the neck as possible!

As always, here's a Dropbox link in case Google Drive doesn't work for you: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/76sax0ms21mwqagxsicfy/h?dl=0&rlkey=lvpl4tefgabyn34642gznxgoz

#272 - Arpeggio Picking Workout CHALLENGE

Comments

I struggle with measures 10 and 11 keeping the alternate picking displine. I have to accentuate the up / down motion to keep from using two up or two downstrokes comming back from 6th to 5th string

Pat Boyle

I wish the Chords or bass notes were put over the scales being played so you could learn to better apply or use these exercises.

Eddie

what scales and arpeggio is this?

Stuart Hedges

Is it okay if I subconsciously switch to economy picking when doing the triplets parts?

the triplets session is the easy one. i can easily hit the 120 bpm on that...the arpeggio is challenging though

Luca Onida

Awesome, I’ve practiced things like this now for a few years and honestly I need more practice doing it slow then I do fast.

For the arp. section, the guitar notes fall into the E harmonic minor, and the bass notes are B G A B, which are the V, III, and IV of that scale. The 16th note section guitar notes and bass notes fit nicely with the E natural minor. Though B Phrygian kinda fits well, too.

Michael Latham

Thanks! This is great! Are you using your index and middle fingers on the first two bars on the b and g strings so you don't anchor the index finger on the e string?

RySi

Hans R I think you really ROCK, Bernth

really cool exercise as always Bernth! I'm playing the last measure one repetition of the 15-17-19 and then I go to the 17-19-20 for the last half but still ending on the 19 for the high E, sounds pretty nice with the feeling of the backing track
