I don't know, the US has called Taiwan its unsinkable aircraft carrier. I don't think it would give up Taiwan.

2017-07-11 22:40:24 +0000 UTCWow, so i guess this puts a dent in China's plan to absorb the R.O.C. into mainland China by 2020. However, it has to be said that any direct threat against Taiwan would likely lead to a negotiated surrender as it currently stands. So, is this just posturing to give leverage to a better negotiation deal for the people of Taiwan?
