Monthly Message for July!

Hello my 50-Cent Army! I’m sure you’re all busy celebrating the 20th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong to China, but I hope you’ll find some time to read the monthly message. Yet another month to uncensor! Some fun things to look forward to: Next week we’ll be doing a collab with our friends and fellow YouTubers at VisualPolitik. There’ll be a special episode on our channel, and a different one on there’s. Be sure to check out both.

And since so many people asked for it, next week we’ll release the episode about the reasons behind the British handover of Hong Kong. The levels of political maneuvering the Communist Party did are astounding.
Another episode we’re working on is about Guo Wengui, the Chinese billionaire who’s really quite sketchy. I know many of you have been asking us to cover his story, and it’s taken us a while to do all the research. Needless to say it ties into the high level power struggles within the Chinese Communist Party.

Noah, our summer intern has been killing it, helping with loads of great research, including for the episode 20 Years Later, Is This the Death of Hong Kong, as well as helping us get some fresh material up on our Facebook page. Hope you’ve been enjoying those short videos and the articles on the website!

A bit of bad news too, before we get on to some really great news! Unfortunately, the Blacklisted concert I was supposed to emcee later this month has been canceled. Yes, pressure from the Chinese Communist Party successfully got a concert in the United States canceled. The organizers told me they lost too much time dealing with the change of venues to do proper advertising and time ran out. That’s a battle we may have lost, but we’ll still win the war.

And now, the great news! Matt, Shelley and I are taking the show to the next level. In the coming weeks, we’ll be experimenting with creating a half hour version of the show that will only be available on our website and apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. Don’t worry, we’ll still be making the usual three episodes per week on our YouTube channel. But this is a huge step forward for the show that will open up a lot of doors and opportunities for the show. Its going to be really resource-heavy and time-consuming, so we couldn’t even have attempted this if it weren’t for your incredible support. YouTube ad revenue is still really low, so we really rely on all of you.
