CQN HANG OUT HERE. MY BRAIN HURTS.

b davis

NIGEL, I COULDNT OF SAID IT BETTER. THIS IS CHAOS IN HERE, I MAY HAVE TIO BAIL. NEET AND ORDERLY WITH SOME ORGANIZATION WOULD BE GREAT. BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED SCTION. IM JUST RANDOMLY PICKING THINGS TO PRACTICE BUT WE ALL KNOW THATS NOT GONNA DO ME ANY REAL GOOD. STRUCTURE. I NEED STRUCTURE. IKE THGE BACKING TRACKS.....WHERE THE HECK ARE THIOSE????/ NO CLUE. I FEEL LIKE IM ON YOUTUBE JUST RANDONLY HITTING SOME LESSSONS....DONT KNOW IF I

b davis

DUDE, I JUST JOINED. I THINK YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD. I FEEL MORE FRUSTRRATED SINCE JOINING A FEW DAYS AGO. TOTAL CHAOS IN HERE. HOW ,WHERE ARE ALL THE LESSONS? LIKE IF I WANTED TO9 LESARN SOME BEGINNING SHRED PATTERNS? I WOULD HAVE NO CLUE WHERE TO LOOK OR GO IN HERE. HELP!

b davis

I like the idea of an academy and broken down by skill level. I have no allegiance to Patreon as long as the old content never goes away as I'm doing lessons from all over the time line.

Tomas Tomasovich

I definitely think a structured website would be necessary. It's very easy to get lost in all the content and create a guide from start to finish. Ex. Step 1 through 20 for sweep. Having seperated sections for each aspect of lessons as well as levels. Thank you

Pat Seguin

Yes I have the same problem. I've joined for a month and I'm unsubscribing because I am already taking guitar lessons. I have found the alternate picking exercises helpful and I will be saving some lessons . I think I will just take some of the exercises and theory lessons and work on them by myself. There's just way too many exercises for me to focus on all at once. And the Patreon isn't organised that well sadly.

Nicolai Rentrer

Thank you for everything Bernth. I’m most interested in learning the fretboard so well that my solos more frequently focus on the notes within the chords being played. You may already do this but when you offer picking exercises, perhaps structure those in a way so that the lead exercise fits perfectly over the backing chords and enables the guitarist to quickly find and play those, say, 1, 3, 5 intervals or sweep arpeggios over backing chords. Thank you for helping me improve so much. 2023 is going to be a breakout year for me in large part because of what you have taught me. Happy New Year!

Chip Tucker

I know I'm late but I hope you read this. For the structure part: yes totally please create a own site with bether overview and structure. The overview issue here is actually the reason why i rarely work with your lessons even tho I believe them to be effective and pay for them anyways...

João Villas Boas da Silva Andrade

One area where I have trouble is playing fast "double stops" -- 16th note power chords. A lesson or two along those likes would be great. As always, thanks for the awesome content!

John Collins

One thing I'd really like to see is fingering indicators in the tabs. That's something that GuitarPro can do easily enough. The other thing that I think would be great is for some of us members to get together in a live room to discuss particular topics - that's really on us not Berth though. Happy New Year everyone

Todd S Evans

First of all, Happy New Year, I hope you had a wonderful holiday break. Secondly, thank you so much for inspiring and teaching me this last few months since I joined your patron page. I would really appreciate more structure to the lessons, in that a table of links organised in such a way that I can go to any lesson I wish. At the moment, I keep a browser open and all the links to the dropbox pages are in that browser as tabs. Recently that closed and I had to go back through all the postings to re-organize it and get back to the lessons I wanted. Some sort of overview page that would introduce all your awesome content and allow me to track where I am would be amazing. I completely agree that the organisational aspects of Patreon are peculiar to the platform and it is not a negative thing, as I really enjoy it and it has meant I can learn from you. An expansion of the current structure to give a better overview of all the lessons would be brilliant. Thanks and peace - Steelie

Steelie

Huge upvote for the Guitar Academy! :) Personally I'm more into going through the courses you've prepared rather than following the posts, those are more like "for fun". I've already seen a big progress in my guitar playing just by going through 3 or 4 of your courses, something that I've been struggling with in the past few years, so a huge thank you for that and a Happy New Year!

Mr.Hege

The idea of having a structured plan sounds like exactly what I would like. Maybe start with “Day 1 - you just bought a guitar”. Also, maybe some tests to take to help guide us where we should start. Thank you Bernth!

Lee Newsted

I think a platform like the one you are describing outside of Patreon where you could add a better structure would be great. That is the one big thing missing in your material in my opinion. Something similar to what Justin Sandercoe has in his site: https://www.justinguitar.com/site-map-and-lesson-structure

Castulo

The guitar academy is an excellent idea and yes, at least from my experience, it's not easy to find the correct path on Patreon. I'm wondering how it would work, though. Would we, patreons, have complete access to it or would it be a separate purchase? Every content posted here would be available there, past, present and future?

Antonio Barrote

First off, happy new year! I am new here today. I have already started a structured practice routine thanks to your content. I would definitely support an academy too. Keep doing what you do.

MARK JORGENSEN

Just carry on with what you've done so far!!! I'm getting far better each lesson and sure enough I'll continue to. Thanks a lot!!! HAPPY 2023!!!

Danny González

Happy New Year Bernth!!!! Thank u for everything that you make for us!! The Bernth Academy would be fantastic!! Also a video Idea would be one with arpeggios, where we go up and down the neck while playing arpeggios, sweeping or alternate picking them. Also some 3 string arpeggios would be good! Thank you 😄

Arbi

The academy idea sounds amazing, I struggle with structured practices.

john carney

one more comment - I love the idea of having guest teachers too, always good to have diversity. But, one can only serve one Sensei :)

D & M S

Hi Bernth - Happy Holidays to you and your family and loved ones! Me, I absolutely love the idea of the "guitar academy". When I first found you and navigated around the site and got access to Patreon (you are the only person I've ever subscribed to on Patreon) I was totally lost and overwhelmed. Where do I start? I like many others need a lot of help on my picking and building up speed, which seems to be a very common theme with most of the people joining. I know I was mesmerized not only by your Youtube teaching ability but your ability to play fast and SUPER clean. Some suggestions if you would like about the academy. I would like to have benchmarks before I move on to the next level or task, however, you want to structure it. For example, I believe on exercise #204 I could get to 100bpm but not close to 150 and I don't know if I even have the capability to accomplish that. If you set it up by saying "Your goal before moving on to the next topic/level is to play this cleanly and at a temp of 115" (or whatever you feel is best. I think it would be great to have guitar playing/learning things and also composition things such as working in Cubase etc. or DAW of your choice. Also, I would like a certificate I could print out when I complete the Academy :) :) :) Thanks, Bernth!! Derek

D & M S

Hi Bernth, many thanks for what you share with us. Maybe you could add some instructions/videos about how you setup your guitar? I know, there is already a lot of resources on the topic but it could be interesting to have also yours :-)

Thomas Anfray

Thank you for an amazing year of guitar/music instruction.

ubmastering

Hey Bernth, first of all a rocking 2023! I really love your lessons and am always looking forward to the next update. But unfortunately I am not (yet) at the level to be able to follow all your lessons. That is why I would like it if there was a classification (or road map) where the lessons are divided by level, techniques and theory. In addition, I would love it if there were also guest lessons and maybe also some "behind the scenes" Cheers up and good luck with all the ideas.

Mike Sijbrands

I would love to see guest instructors the way Scott’s bass lessons does and am super into the idea of a more structured approach. Keep up the great work!

Brent English

I love all the content here, but the structured alternative to Patreon seems like a tremendous idea to run in conjunction with this site. With the huge amount of material already here, it can be tricky to sift through lessons or topics for students, especially those who are brand new. Bernths Guitar Academy with material arranged in difficulty tiers, with clear road maps through exercise and lessons would be incredibly useful. It would be a heck of an undertaking, but, and I am sure others would agree, when we see incredible playing at unbelievable speeds incorporating techniques that are other worldly, and we all say " I want to do that!" it would be helpful to have a road map for that skill that directs a student to the technique examples and courses that make up the skill... for instance: to study "x" it would be really helpful to your technique to have studied and be adept at skills "a" "b" and "c" . Perhap a similar methodology to gymnastic progressions or calisthenics stuff, where you can try the Iron Cross right at the start with no training or exercise but you aren't likely to get places quickly if you can't do a basic pull up...🤣 Similarly, if you aren't holding your pick correctly, you are unlikely to be executing the really fast alternate picking and string skipping cleanly or quickly and hampering your own progress. In short, each lesson or course can link forward to more advanced areas or be regressed to its elements to ensure rock solid fundamentals: "if you want to play this, make sure you have followed the skills road map to get here, as it will make this awesome skill easier to acquire". Hope this is of some help! Thank you again for all the awesome work 🤘🤘👍

Sven Talbot

[Shoot Enter didn't work as expected] How to navigate all your practice routines to find the right level of challenge for my skills (or lack of skills!)

Michael

Bernth, First I want to thank you for all your help. Your lessons and the associated files have made a huge impact on my playing. With that said, I would like to see some kind of roadmap for practice routines. For example, Picking Exercises - Basic (X1, X2, X3 ....) Intermediate (Y1, Y2, Y3 .....) Advanced (Z1, Z2, Z3 ...) Left Hand Dexterity - Basic (X1, X2, X3 ....) Intermediate (Y1, Y2, Y3 .....) Advanced (Z1, Z2, Z3 ...)

Michael

I like the guest teachers and the academy ideas a lot. Have you thought about app developement?

Anthony Buttaci

Bernth. Thanks much for your guidance this year. I like both ideas. So shall it be! Have a happy new year.

Schwartzefehen

Well, Thank you to you Lord BERNTH, Wish you an Awsome 2023 :-)

Michel Surprenant

Thank you for your great videos. They have really motivated me to "fix" some of my guitar playing issues and I can tell they have made me "better". I'd really like to see some content for players who are perhaps forgotten about. I like to play rhythm guitar way more than shredding solos but I find there is very little content on how to be a really good rhythm player (timing, muting, rhythmic groupings etc.). It's been frustrating to find quality videos on how to get "better" at rhythm. The other thing I struggle with is the mental aspect. I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and still struggle with some fairly routine things, which sets off a spiral of negative thoughts that perhaps I just suck at guitar. Maybe a video on how to deal with those thoughts might be helpful to us "old" rockers ;) Lastly, I think the academy is a good idea as it's hard to figure out what content is related on Patreon without scrolling through a long list. Keep up the good work!

Michael K Kruse

More structured learning would be welcomed! I recently joined but have yet to dive in as I'm trying to find the right place to start, given my skill level and learning goals. I've been making my own index, but having that from the start would be really helpful!

Sean

I agree with Russell on the difficulty navigating patreon. It would be so cool to learn from Charlie as a guest!! It would also be nice to have an easier platform to navigate. I would really to see more involving dropped tunings since a lot of people play in dropped C or Dropped A on seven and eight string guitars. Maybe a section where you can pick your tuning and learn the scales for that tuning? Thank you Bernth! This site has helped me so much these past few months! \m/

Rich Gormley

Bernth, the academy is a great idea and would definitely take your content and teachings to a whole new level.

Dave Shaw

I would definitely join if you had a website. The problem with Patreon in my opinion is its so hard to find exactly what you are looking for. I spent a considerable amount of time searching instead of practicing whn I first joined. Thank you for everything you do and may the new year bring you joy and success!

Russell Ferrell

Hi Bernth, Having just recently joined I really like the Academy idea you put forward. It is challenging to start a learning path even though there are 'beginner' courses. When you are already playing for a while you might want to know where to begin on other tracks that will help you speedily improve from your current position. As I don't mind unlearning some bad habits I just started with these courses myself though. So additionally, what I think would be awesome, is if you could have a video with some sort of 'decision tree' in there. By following some easy exexercises one could check how far along their journey they are, and then that would recommend a starting point for a certain learning track, of just a place within all your video's to start learning/watching. Maybe this is already available of course, I have a long way to go to catch up on 3 years of amazing content.

Wouter Knigge

Hi Bernth, thanks for all the awesome content! Yes, DEFINITELY setup a Bernth Academy. Patreon's UI and navigation is pretty bad, especially for guitar instructional content, where content released years ago are still very much relevant and useful. Stuff gets really hard to find, even if you know exactly you are looking for. Would love to follow a structured program from beginner to advanced. I echo the suggestion to use the Academy to update the 10 Steps to Modern Shredding program. Having your own Academy platform would also allow you to offer different types of content. I am also subscribed to Kiko Loureiro's Guitar Academy, and I really enjoy this format of content delivery. Looking forward to what you will do with it!

LC

Hi Bernth - I think an academy would be great. I always find Patreon a bit fiddly to search for specific videos/topics. Also I started off with the 10 Steps course and regularly recommend it to friends, but I'm aware that your teaching and video techniques have changed a lot since then, so maybe it's worth using the academy to refresh that? Although, if I could make one request, it's please don't step back too much as this community grows! It must be getting more and more difficult to manage, but (IMHO) it's your attitude and approach that makes the community (especially the VIP Facebook one) such a friendly and supportive "safe space" to share videos and ask questions, whatever our level. You set the example and tone. Please keep it up if you are able! :-)

Laurence Pawling

I agree with a lot of the comments. The Academy sounds like a good idea.

Chris H Brown

Good morning☺️ Those are both good ideas, I would like to see you exchange with other Pro players as it is always nice to benefit from as much 3rd party experience as you can. For the guitar academy, totally go for it. Just dont forget that a platform like this might not be done with a wordpress template, it will most likely consume much time, effort and - of course - money. From my point of view, hire someone who is not a technical crack, rather go for someone that knows a thing or two about psychology as well, so you will get a nice, easy to understand, intuitive and attractive platform. Sure it's a risk to start such a project, but hey, no risk no fun 😉 Cheers & einen guten Rutsch wünsche ich 🤘🏻

Opus Gaudens

Wünsch dir nen guten Rutsch ;) I don't know if I did really improve much... but at least you and your lessons made me wanna come better again and motivated me to actually DO something about that! That alone I am greatful for, cheers.

Sephiroth

Hey there Bernth. I would really like to see some more content or tips on hand synchronization to build up speed. I always ALWAYS loose it around 60bpm when doing picking exercises. my hands just seem to not wanna talk to each other past that. besides that I think a guitar academy is a great Idea. we all could use a little structure including myself and those who are new to guitar. always good stuff as always and looking forward to more videos and my own progression in 2023!

James Nassar

I think your content is excellent the way it is. If you want to expand, that's cool too. Whatever your vision is, I'm sure people will flock to any new projects. You are an excellent instructor and player. The real deal. Your lessons are HARD for me, but though I cannot usually get up to your speeds, I always improve - and that's a good thing. THanks for what you do!

Jamie Campbell

Hi Bernth, I would just stick to what you are doing with Patreon as far as teaching goes and NOT set-up a Bernth guitar academy. I've tried using websites of other Youtube guitar teachers and also used ArtistWorks. They generally suck because their websites are difficult to use and they are not very engaging. Even though Patreon does limit your ability to scale to some degree, it's still a better option. If you still would prefer setting up a guitar academy. Maybe use a platform like https://teachable.com/ Also, it would be helpful if you could update your pinned post for new members to include a link to a page or spreadsheet that lists all your posts and categorizes your lessons, workouts and courses. This would make them easier to find and would be a big help since Patreon's internal search filters are not that great. Otherwise, keep on doing what you are doing by asking the community what they want to learn and continue to focus on shred guitar since this is your niche. Just my 2 cents anyway.

nathan m

Bernth Academy is a great idea. That’s the one thing i find frustrating with patreon, is the organization of the lessons. I would definitely join a Bernth curriculum. It’s the reason i only watch the 30 day challenge videos so far, makes jt easier to really work and grow a skillset when it’s structured in blocks

Robert Friedman

Bernth, thank you so much for all the great videos on Patreon. I like the idea about the academy but I also think you could to the same thing by establishing a recommend progression through the Patreon videos. Either way your videos are extremely beneficial and well made. Please keep up the good work.

John Bowlin

Hi Bernth. First off, I'm new to the patreon but I've made major progress in just one month with alternate picking and sweeping with your 30 day challenges. With that being said, would love to see more of these types of challenges that helps build and build until being able to play the final "challenge". Thanks for all you do with your YouTube channel and the extra content here on Patreon! Much love my friend!

Nick Kronner

Happy Holidays Bernth. I think a structured site to co exist with your Patreon is a great idea. My challenge is what to study when and there is so much great content it’s hard to decide what direction to go in. Guest instructors would be awesome as well. Love your lessons. Thank you so much. All the best for 2023

Lee McDermott

I haven't been here long, only about 30 days. But I have struggled with finding relevant content for my skill level. So the academy sounds awesome. It would be very nice to have things organized by theory, technique, and performance in addition to skill level. I just completed the 30 day tap challenge which was entirely focused on technique and I loved it. I have started the Sweep picking masterclass where the theory and technique is mixed and find it confusing when you are talking about the theory since I don't have a good background on theory yet. I keep wishing you would have just focused on perfecting the technique and leaving the theory for later. IMHO there is no point in explaining the theory until you have learned the technique. Maybe I will feel different once I find your theory course and can actually understand what you are talking about. Oh, and a huge thing I would hope for are backing tracks without your guitar part in addition to the other material you provide. That way once I perfect the performance, I have a backing track to record myself with. And also, can you make more of your foot pedal? It's always sold out. And lastly, if you don't already have it, a complete course on effects and tone creation would be nice. So many people focus on teaching how to play guitar and leave out how to create that killer tone to get our guitar playing to sound awesome. I have a couple modeling amps, Bias effects 2, and Amplitube Max and am pretty much stuck on using premade tones because I don't understand how to create the sound I want. Anyway. Thanks for being awesome and have a happy new year.

Daniel

My two cents to add to all the great feedback so far: 1. Personally, not interested in having guests. I find it easy to get material from others on YouTube, etc., and I come here because I like learning from you the best. If the guests were teaching something you don't know how to do well, and you are having them teach you and the rest of us, that might be cool. But, other than that, I prefer your specific teaching style. To me, the value of being a part of this community is your engagement. So, imho, I would focus more on ideas that involve you with the community. 2. I agree that providing more structure will be helpful. I see a lot of comments from people having trouble finding material. Especially people very new to guitar in general. 3. Instead of spending time working on guest videos imho, I think it would be cooler to introduce community collabs/challenges on a scheduled basis. Something just for Patreon members (could be made public after the live stream). Something where the contribution(s) are short (10-20 seconds) to make it easy for people with busy lives to participate. Maybe something similar to Ola's SWOLA collabs/challenges??? Maybe something like a monthly challenge where you provide a very short backing track and then pick a theme (such as sweep picking, tapping, etc). 4. Might be good to have two different "lesson polls" each month. One for "beginners" and one for "advanced." (maybe each month's beginner lesson could always be with you and Nata)

Mark Sanders

Happy New Year Bernth! I’m fairly new and agree with the above comments and your point about the limitations of the content structure on Patreon. I actually have begun to catelog a lot of your content for my own purposes using some software. I create and organize learning content for a living and it’s pretty much how I am in my personal life. There may be a few ways to accomplish what you want to do without breaking the bank on your end. Depends how much of the work you want to handle yourself or how much you want to farm out to a third party. I have some ideas how you may even be able to structure your current system of Patreon, Dropbox, Google to have some structural (easier to categorize, find and download) improvements. That could be an easy improvement that would cost nothing but maybe some time. Willing to assist or consult if you’re interested.

Brian Rich

Hi Bernth, I'm quite new here and honestly it isn't very easy to get startet. There is a lot of great looking content, but where to start? I have problems to get an overview: I want to spent time to learn guitar not to study your patreon side for hours. Therefore a more structured Website would be very helpful to focus on using your great lessons!

Pumphut

The academy idea is exactly what I've been looking for.

Jeff Hirshberg

Hi Bernth, Thanks a lot for 2022! Please, go for the academy! My wish for 2023 would be that you add a 2nd camera view to your picking play along videos to give us a close look on your picking hand as seen from the fretboard (just like Troy Grady does ;-) ). This will give us very helpful information about HOW to play!

Stephan

I think this is a really good idea for an extremely easy way to implement a way of organizing the content in a structured fashion without spending a lot fo effort building a website. That being said, I am a full stack developer and can help with any insight or help bulding a site that benefits our community if you need any!

Connor Pasko

Bernth Academy would be awesome. I need to beef up my shredding skills and a systemized approach works for me.

Debbie Barrette

Hello Bernth, first of all, thanks for all your contributions, they have helped me a lot in my progress as a guitarist, sometimes it is very difficult to continue because of the doubt of not knowing if I will reach a high level like yours, but each video I see motivates me a lot keep going, thanks for everything. It seems to me a great idea to carry out the academy, I think that the structure would do very well and would make great changes, I agree. Have a great end of the year and a spectacular start to 2023, greetings from Mexico.

Merol

Bernth, it´s a great idea to have guests, because it would be something refreshing in the channel, but, I would have to choose between the guitar academy and patreon (I´m not sure if I could afford a guitar academy). Every post here is absolutly useful, so maybe you could like an index file ,where everything posted on patreon is classified by technique, difficulty, theory, etc. To improve the videos I would like you to add a special camera for your right hand. So we could observe in better detail the way you move your hand and the technique you use. I cannot say goodbye without first thanking you for the enormous effort you put into each lesson. I'm not still at the level I would like to be, but believe me, thanks to you, your lessons and the motivation you show every day, I have vastly improved my technique, speed and accuracy. I wish you and all the members of this community a very happy new year 2023, thank you very much Bernth.

Enrique Peña

Hi Bernth, Your content is astonishing, I'm learning a lot from the Patreon content! Your explanations are very clear and you really know the mechanics for each technique. But I have to confess that finding out the proper content for my current needs was a bit confusing. A platform with a more structured content would be great, I would love very much a Bernth Guitar Academy :) Danke schön Bernth and have a great 2023!

Igor Martins

The academy sounds like a great idea, because Patreon’s lack of organization can be annoying. In terms of content, I’d love to see a few lessons (maybe a 30-day challenge) focused on fluidly combining sweep picking with other techniques like alternate picking or legato. I love #178 and #245, but the sweeping is isolated from other techniques. Thanks for all you do; joining this group has been a terrific experience so far.

Michael McCarthy

Thank you, Bernth, for all your hard work, excellent lessons and workshops. All the best 2023, health, happyness and may you always have a brandnew pick handy

Dominik Glöckner

Love you dude, thank you for everything. Bernth guitar academy sounds perfect as long as you can keep the barrier for entry at a similar price point, the return on investment for what you provide here is the greatest bargain on the internet. And as for categories, i’d say start by organising by specific techniques, and then have a difficulty level selection within that skill umbrella.

Benjamin Hirons

Oh man, I have so many thoughts on this! This is one of those scenarios where I seriously wish I could discuss in person, as a back and forth discussion is seriously warranted 😃 However, since that option isn't available, here are my $0.02: 1) More Bernth will always be good, so I support your structured idea approach, though I have many thoughts on your categories. You have a wide audience, and many "I don't know where to begin" students, which is more of a guided lesson plan. 2) Personally I see your lessons heavily leaning towards techniques, which obviously have helped me immensely, but these can be very mechanical in nature. I am at a stage where I am struggling to relate chords/scales/intervals etc together, so that's where I'm spending my time. I find this relationship/discussion to be it's own category that is separate from the mechanical part. 3) Theory/songwriting/song breakdown etc - again, a wholly separate topic that is more discussion based/active listening while learning. Being able to understand the stuff you're playing even if you're just listening is invaluable and it's something I'm sure many of us need to do more of. And so on ... I have no doubt we can come up with a million ideas that we all want you specifically to teach 😂 No matter what you come up with, it will be great, but it will need time to grow. Also, take your competition into account to see what they're doing and if you can either teach it better/offer an alternative perspective as well as teach things you think they're missing. Lastly, thank you Bernth! You're an amazing source of positivity and are helping people across the globe. That's an amazing achievement! I hope you and your family have had an excellent holiday season, enjoy New Years and all the best for the coming year 2023! I'm so excited for the journey we're all taking with you! 🥳

Eric Bailey

Thank you Bernth for all the work you have done. Having a more structured content is a great idea. I would also like to see some motivational content. I have played Classical guitar for over 30 years and am trying to learn to shred but as someone who works in a different field, it has become rather difficult to spend time to practice the new techniques and my guitars are spending more time hanging on the wall. Another idea, which I got from a couple of YouTube shorts is rhythm games. Thanks again to you and everyone else here and I wish you all a happy and prosperous year in 2023 and beyond.

Kaveh Kiai

Hi Bernth, just wanted to say thanks for all you do! My guitar skills have improved astronomically since I became a member of this amazing guitar community and can’t wait for whatever you decide to do next. My personal request would be to include multiple cameras/viewing angles for all your exercises and picking workouts (sweep picking especially). It’s been kind of difficult to mimic your techniques from just a front on viewing angle. I’d love to see more close-ups that allow people to see your exact picking angle, hand placement, and the tiny nuances of your pick movements that are needed to have that perfect sound at higher tempos. I’d love to see a more technical course for sweep picking utilizing close ups as well so I can find that perfect combination of pick angle, the small differences between upsweeps and down sweeps, and how much of your wrist vs arm motion is needed for that perfect fluent sound. It’s something I’ve personally been struggling with for years. Thanks for all you do though and I look forward to 2023 with both you and this community!

Erick Kasecamp

Hello and Happy Holidays, Bernth! I hope you are enjoying some quality time with your friends and family and not obsessing TOO much about our awesome community here. 😄 I really like the idea of having guests where you both chat AND play and/or exchange technique ideas and practice tips. I do like the idea of better structure, but honestly a separate academy would likely force me to decide if I were to keep Patreon or switch to the academy; I doubt I would pay for both. Honestly, I can't think of more/different content. I love the channel the way it is!

Michael Latham

Hi Bernth! Thank you for the (almost) last 2 years assisting my guitar journey. I see a lot of progress and I'm still hungry for more. So as a teacher you have done everything right from my perspective. For the next year I have some content wishes for the channel where I see some blind spots: - Modern guitar slapping and hybrid picking phrases as done by Polyphia (love that percussive style) - Whammy bar tricks (Flutter, Dive Bombs and other Pantera stuff ;-) I also like the idea to cooperate with other guitarists on Patreon, I think that will be fruitful for all participants. Regarding the structuring: I already structured all of your lessons for my practice routine, so for me you don't have to do that. And for sure: More collabs. I really love this becaus I push myself to deliver something good for it. I would have a wish that I would also like to fulfill myself sometimes: A kind of "guitar vacation" with several well-known guitarists (similar to the John Petrucci Guitar Universe). I was already thinking about it, but it is really very expensive, especially when you have to fly over the atlantic. Perhaps you've an idea for an event like this? Frohes Neues und mach weiter so!

Guest teachers is a great idea!

My 2 cents on this would be a structured site that might just list reccomended orders for the patreon videos so it's a bit easier to navigate. As a novice myself (I picked the instrument up and went through my first online lesson exactly a year ago in 2 days) the lack of structure was a bit confusing here (I've been using multiple learning platforms so I still got very useful stuff here a bit later on)

Thank you for all you do for the music community. I have greatly improved my skills through your videos. For me and what brought me here is the picking exercise videos. My picking still needs work to get up to a faster tempo with better accuracy.

An Academy would be awesome - I have so many problems with my playing that I really struggle with brain freeze when considering what exercises or courses to do. I have limited time, so am overly concerned with efficiency and wanting to work on the correct things. So many to choose from, where to start? So something structured with levels of progression would be great.

Hi Bernth -- Happy New Year. Love the idea of organizing all the lessons and materials in a way that is searchable by the students. Perhaps setting up 'learning tracks' by practice area and difficulty level might be helpful as well!

Jeff Parks

A structured package or plan would be great

I liked the idea of "Scott's bass lessons" with its academy approach, but they got too expensive and although I much prefer your style of teaching I would like a structured system. My wife has paid for Paul Davids lessons but they are too broad and she doesn't know where to start. Something in between and shred based would be great.

Hi Bernth, in my opinion all the lessons are just great, the only thing i thought maybe if you can add any full pieces of music in correspondence of the lesson you did to practice the topic of the lesson on a real piece of music !!! i think would be great !!!! Have Fun !!!! and Happy new year in advance !!

Hi Bernth, for me it would be more beneficial to get a more transparent/structured access to all your valuable input, so I cant frequently modify my practice routine based on topics easy to find on Patreon. Input from other musicians is a good one, but I am a bit afraid to then again have the need to change the practise approach based on a different input. So sticking to your logic would be better - for me.

I think you nailed it with working on finding ways to categorize or structure the content. The content you provide (videos, backing tracks, GP files) are awesome. And while I'm sure there are perks to this platform, you might have outgrown it where your own site and content might be better presented and organized.

Hi Bernth , I'm a new member and really enjoying learning new exercises which have had quite a big impact on my playing already ! 😊 I would love to see a tutorial for your song " A Broken heart " ! I love that song :) , it looks very technical but I'm sure plenty of members would like to learn it too ! Another suggestion from me is to make lessons about alternate tunings if you have not already . I have always wanted to write music in Drop D, Drop C and tunings like A whole step down and more but I think my theory knowledge is still lacking. Also perhaps some lessons on 7 or 8 string guitar. It would be awesome to see a lesson on selective picking ( i think Tosin Abasi came up with it ) or thumping ( also Tosin Abasi technique ) . Guests sound like an amazing idea ! One last suggestion , I'm a big fan of Progressive metal and want to write music in that stlye . Maybe you could do a lesson series on writing songs in particular genres ??:) Thank you so much Bernth and happy new year 🎉!!

Hi Bernth, first thanks for all your stuff , help and effort. Furthermore thanks again for the free entry to Seiler and Speer .. it was a pleasure to see in real. I wish you a great and successful 2023 ... I am sure you will start like a rocket ... Cheers Chris

Very nice work Bernth, thank you for all this content that has punctuated my days for almost 2 years. You're not lying when you say "this exercise will save you years of practice" ^^. I agree, stuff is hard to find on Patreon. Guides by guitar level and type of lesson would be welcome. Personally, I would like to have more: - Triad exercises - Improvisation exercises - Chord + associated scale - Composition tricks like course #158 ^^ to add to my daily routine. Last think, where is the last german word :D? Thank you for everything, can't wait for 2023. Best wishes to you all. Khoudj

I love both ideas!! Thanks Bernth, I hope the holidays are treating you well :)

For structuring content, maybe have website with links to Patreon. In other words, use Patreon to store and control access to actual content, and have website to show structure such as recommended course sequences.

Bring on the guests! That would be a great addition to what I could work on! Academy- yes. Organized materials are a high priority for me and with everyone I follow here on Patreon, I find it difficult to find what relates to what I am currently studying. Go 2023

Thank you for all the hard work you put into making these lessons it has really helped me excell and has made the transition from bass to guitar a fun and informative journey! Cheers !!

I joined few months ago, and the only thing that bothers me still is organization of lessons. It is somewhat confusing, and sometimes it is really hard to find something, or when browsing you just randomly find stuff that you would actually like to practice :) Otherwise, I don't have any complaints or anything, but only organization and putting comprehensive list together would be a big plus, so thank you for all the stuff, I really like it and it is good and very detailed, so no other suggenstions from my side, because I think you have nailed it down pretty good.
