#248 - Best Weak Finger Exercises!

My friends, you voted for the topic of weak finger exercises - so I'm happy to present you with a killer routine that will help with getting your fingers in shape!

Here are your practice files (2 video play-alongs, tabs, guitar pro files, backing tracks, instructional video): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AZg2GjpwiU2shAycofZk17yrbHaS100q?usp=sharing

You are not allowed to use your index finger for anchoring here, please make sure to only work with your middle, ring, and pinky fingers. This will build strength and independence and you will love the results if you're consistent :)

And as always, here's a Dropbox link in case Google Drive doesn't work for you: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/nrvj7voq57nxexlml4t4c/h?dl=0&rlkey=qd79lva9wh6ekfqyxo7qosqeu

#248 - Best Weak Finger Exercises!

Comments

Thank you. I need my fingers stronger and stronger independent

Why is there an annoying guitar line an octave lower in these exercises? I just feel it really makes it harder to concentrate and follow along. Strongly suggest providing some color that is an overview of what you are going to play, removing the bass line and having the tabs flow smoothly not jerkingly.

Here's the insane part, Ex 1 - moving between strings, he just moves his pinky for the first note on the next string and the ring finger moves/drops just in time for the pull-off. I am struggling to replicate that. I instinctively position all three fingers to the next string at the same time and that breaks down at higher bpm. I have to really slow it down to move fingers individually. Seems like a finger isolation issue. Any tips?

Agree, this is a great exercise one again. Yes, Ex.4 is challenging. 1. My hammers make all sorts of noises. Some were from adjacent strings but even when those are muted, I get some sort of additional noise which seems to be coming fro m the impact of the string I am hammering on the frets in front? Maybe I need to adjust the curvature of the neck. 2. I don't know where to place the index finger! :)

Compressor, maybe? What effects are you using?

Another great lesson, my brain hurts a little haha I'm having trouble with Ex 4. How can you hammer so clearly and loudly without introducing string noise? My guitars are pretty high gain but the sound fades very quickly :(

It is in the google drive/dropbox. Thanks!

Hey there, I just checked and it works on my end - could you please try refreshing the page :) Everything said here is also featured in the Google Drive/Dropbox links in the post (the instructional video part)!

Thanks for this Bernth! Since I've been doing the 30-day legato course/challenge to build my legato skill set, this is a great addition/change of pace to keep the exercises fresh 🤟🏻☕️
